What truck would you recommend to get started?
Hi, not long ago I started a new save in ETS 2. I'm planning to buy a truck and I don't know which one to choose. I advise against Scania, Volvo, and Iveco, Mercedes what do you recommend?

Generally it is fully up to you. There is no wrong answer. Buy the truck you like the most.

As the first truck, Volvo will give you the most for your money when it comes to traction.
But you obviously do not like Volvo?

But then use quick jobs to try the different brands and models, and then choose the one you like best.

At present I prefer just carrying on taking the 'quick jobs' that way I can try out all the trucks, while my drivers in my garages settle for the Iveco models

Excellent plan. The big differences between trucks is the mirrors and dash displays, performance doesn't vary all that much, so it's mostly just what fits you well.

good starter truck is the scania r410 or 450 in poverty spec, still a good truck but cheaper than full price

Big DAF with 530 hp
The new Renault T is a nice truck, you can always try that for your first truck.

As the first truck, are you serious?
You must be level 18 before you can buy a DAF with 530 hp, or upgrade it with a 530 hp engine.

For comparison, see this list of what you as level 18 have the right to buy the different brands:
DAF 530 hp
Iveco 560 hp
MAN 560 hp
Mercedes 551 hp
Renault 520 hp
Scania 560 hp
Volvo 600 hp

You earn significantly more by driving your own truck than by quick jobs, and I would therefore think that @OP and other beginners will probably be most interested in what they has the right to buy while he still has only a low level.

From level 1 to 7 you have the right to choose between following:
DAF
XF 105 Space (4x2) 360 hp, 12 gear, €117.270
XF space (4x2) 370 hp, 12 gear, €127.690

Iveco
Active Space (4x2) 310 hp,12 gear, €97.255
Hi-Way (4x2) 310 hp, 12 gear, €157.945

MAN
TGX XL (4x2) 320 hp, 12 gear, €99.965
TGX Euro6 XL (4x2) 360, 12 gear, €109.175

Mercedes
Actros low roof sleeper (4x2) 320 hp, 12 gear, €116.005
New Actros streamspace (4x2) 421 hp, 12 gear, €118.775

Renault
Premium normal roof (4x2) 380 hp, 12 gear Retarder, €108.175
T sleeper (4x2) 380 hp, 12 gear, €115.843
Magnum excellence (4x2) 440 hp, 12 gear retarder, €125.785

Scania
Streamline normal (4x2) 360 hp, 12 gear, €112.615
R 2009 normal (4x2) 360 hp, 12 gear, €113.445
R normal roof (4x2) 370 hp, 12 gear, €117.400
S normal roof (4x2) 370 hp, 12 gear, €118.900

Volvo
FH classic sleeper (4x2) 420 hp, 12 gear, €113.680
FH Sleeper (4x2) 420 hp, 12 gear, €114.590

Note that only Renault has retarder transmission already from level 1 ... With all the other brands, you must be level 10 before you are entitled to a transmission with retarder.

So many opinions and answers to choose from. I am dutch so i drive the most DAF.
It's just what you like and you have already limited yourself wich trucks you like, so it's easier to choose. So good luck and have fun in the game.

I normally just take the 100K first to buy a truck, then pay it off, then take out both loans to upgrade garage and get new drivers and trucks, whilst, also earning at the same time.
