Invisible walls
I can not really enjoy ETS2 anymore... I keep hitting invisible walls, especially near Innsbruck, Austria. I have now decided to make screenshots of the exact locations where I hit invisible walls, this is the latest one, near Luxembourg: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2247594384

They keep flinging me on the side etc so it's impossible to finish the drive because of damage on the trailer/goods as well. During just this drive from Graz, Austria to Plymouth, UK, I have hit 4 invisible walls until I had to abort at this location. It's no fun, the fifth drive in a row I had to abandon...

I get what you feel Newiko. There has been time's that i have missed a gate, and there has been a big empty space next to it. Big enough to turn speical transport loads. No private property or keep out sign's, no fence or barriers, i try and turn and bang INVISIBLE WALL. really do not like that.

Since I think there is some information missing from both of you, I guess in both of you before you have ignored some police roadblocks and driven through these roadblocks?

If my guess is right, it's detours you've experienced.
- You should instead have found another route by other roads.

You can avoid detours in game settings by moving the detours slider all the way to the left.

I even drove on that route on the screenshot a few days ago with no issues.

If I guessed wrong about dettours, my next guess would be to use mods ... but I now believe mostly in my first guess.

For OP, I haven't hit any invisible barriers in a Vanilla save in years. Is this invisible barrier repeatable? Are you using any mods at all?

For Alabama, I think you're talking about something unrelated to OP. OP is talking about unintentional barriers. You seem to be talking about intentional game design, preventing you from driving where you aren't intended to.

As for the first actual reply trying to help, I don't think this is a case of a detour, considering the location the image depicts. It's in the middle of the highway, where a detour is not able to be spawned.

It is very possible that you are right :)

But I remember once a very long time ago (before I disabled detours), I drove through a police barrier and only several kilometers after the barrier I came across an accident site where the road was almost completely blocked .. I still managed to sneak past without injuries , and when I got to the end of the road there was again a police roadblock that I could also drive through.
- But I do not remember where on the map I had that experience.

Oh, I wasn't aware of that. I've encountered maybe 10 unique detours and have since turned them off. None of them blocked a whole section of highway.

I can confirm what Briannospam said. I could sneak past the first police roadblock but at the actual accident site there was the helicopter and there was no way to drive past this one.
Had to reload an earlier autosave as I got myself stuck.

And what did I learn from that? Better follow the detour if the road where the detour is has only two lanes.

Which mods do you use, in the distant past there was also one that prevented me from using a particular stretch of highway.
The Pitts Oct 4, 2020 @ 5:00am
The OP is using mods and, as Brian has already pointed out, I've driven that stretch of road without any problems on v1.38.

@Newiko try driving through that area on a vanilla profile (easy enough if you start one in Luxemborg) and see if the problem disappears. If so, you need to work out which of your mods is causing the issue.
I am only using Frkn64's graphical mods as well as "Real Companies" mods. I do not think those would cause these invisible walls.

Must be something on your end, it does not happen in the vanilla game.

I remember in previous threads having read that real companies mods can cause problems, e.g. in the form of unrealistic loads (eg contractor material from a supermarket), as well as no jobs, and as far as I remember also other problems.

Unless you are the author of a mod or have done a detailed analysis of its contents you have no idea what effects the mod has on the game world. The Real Companies mods are renowned for causing strange issues, eg. spawning trailers in places that make ferry crossings problematic, so I'd start with those, but my original advice still stands - try a vanilla profile.

sometimes at toll booths u might slam into an invisable wall cause it doesnt want u to go through there. usualy thats a viacard lane but it wont always let u through sometimes it does.
Also some bussiness dont want u in there so put up a wall u cant see.
i havnt got any mods just the DLC and i hit invisable walls now and then but its rare.
like i missed a turn and go into a place to turn around only to slam into an invisable wall.

Something that happens a lot is with voice nav giving the wrong instructions and i end up going into the wrong place and hit the wall lol. IE she might say turn right so i turn right but she was either too early or too late lol.

the invisable walls r there to stop u going places ur not allowed without certain DLC. or it might be a place just put in for decoration and u cant drive into it.

Who is driving the truck? You or the sat nav?

i use VR but somethings r too blurry to see so rely on the voice nav to tell me when to turn. waiting on adaptor lenses for my HMD so i can see clearly.

I can see the road fine but the hud is a bit blurry so cant always see when i have to turn. cant see the road signs either.
That voice nav needs to be fired its not very good. like telling me to turn right then left when there is no right turn only left. or after i finish a job and unloading it says OK turn left lol. It gets annoyed if u dont follow its instructions like when u have to stop for fuel. its OK re routing in a annoyed voice.
