Sequential transmission
I just wanted to ask, is sequential really worth it? I

mean, don't get me wrong I love shifting manually and I'm seriously considering getting a G27 in the future for fully manual shifting, but I can't help but thinking pressing the shifter (Driving Force Gt) is just a hassle. Going from a motorway to a stop and pressing it 12 times just to stop.

I've currently changed to real automatic with eco adaptive and it makes life a million times easier than throwing the shifter 3 times around every bend in cities, etc.

What would be the benefits of staying with sequential over any automatic setup?

Well dunno, automatic seems to be the way to go in scandic trucks. When manual is needed you just switch to sequential and then back to automatic :)

I think the best use of sequential is to have it when you need it and ignore it when you don't.
In other words, use that "automatic/sequential" toggle that they give you. If you find yourself having trouble getting up a hill or pulling out of a quarry or whatever, switch to sequential and stick it in a low gear. Do your business and then switch back to automatic.

Manual just gives your more control over your gears. If you don't run snow physics or constantly run really heavy loads, I wouldn't really say buying a G27 or any wheel is really necessary unless your just want one. But like everyone else said, just map a control to automatic/sequential switch; makes it really easier in cities

I never thought about the toggle. So just switch to sequential for anything super heavy or super steep?

Indeed. If you try getting out of a Steinbruch and the truck won't move uphill on the steepest parts of the climb, put on the parking brake, change to manual transmission with the flip of the button you set up, then try again climbing in very low gears. On automatic, the truck would try to climb in a higher gear and would not provide enough power (or maybe torque, I'm still fuzzy about these technical stuff).

i like using sequintial, id rather have an H shifter, but im poor. so im using my logitech 3dpro as my gear stick and a saitek r440 wheel.
its pretty comfy, lots of buttons for cruise control and engine brakes, trailer hitch and what not.
i dont know about this dropping to first gear to stop? i start from 8th gear from a complete stop if its flat.
i wish there were more hills and mountains to actually utilise the gears more. the roads in this game seem kinda flat.

Not from first, but if you start from say 4th or 5th with something heavier it doesn't take long to get to 10/11 that's still a lot of presses just to get up to speed.

im glad we have the option to go what we want.
my hand barely moves from my "gearstick"
guess i like the immersion of it all ay
ive got left on my joystick set as neutral, so sometimes i end up out of gear on the moterway, and its a lot of gear changes to get back up lol.
i drive sequential all the time... if you want less shifting, use a 6 speed, although i prefere the 12 speed on my Actros, but mostly for the 3 reverse gears :)

Just for some somewhat realism it doesn't seem very safe to have one hand on the wheel most of the time. I've never driven a truck but I doubt they drive one handed while they smash through a sequential, you know what I mean? Haha.

I only use it for climbiing steep hills with heavy cargo, then I switch back to simple automatic

Might sound a bit noobish, but when climbing is it low gear high revs or lower gear lower revs?

you´ll notice when it stops losing speed/ is able to hold it... usually it´s a lower gear in the upper ranges...

I used to use a Driving Force GT and found that sequential was nice to use with the 6 speed transimission that you can put on the trucks. I now have a G27 with the manual shifter and I can tell you that it's worth it, you should upgrade to one (or even the newer G29/G920) as soon as you can! :)
