Switch between mouse/kb steering
Hello, about 110h of my playtime was with KB (keyboard) and now I try to get used to mouse. I like mouse steering when you are driving on highways, or parking your trailer. But when there is sharp turn in city or while driving off highway I almost everytime crash, or flip my truck, because I panic a lot. And also I like to look around while driving, or when someone is (or I'm) overtaking me, which is not possible with mouse, so turning on red lights or overtaking someone is quite hard. I know you can hold button for free look, but you can't move your steering wheel, which is not really useful if you are not stopped. What I'm I looking for is something like you will press one button to switch between KB/mouse without having to open your settings and adjust sensitivity. It would be much help and easier.

And also - English is not my native language and I'm not really good in it, so sorry if I made any mistakes.

Customisation! You can bind every camera movement eg. look left, right,up, down, stright, etc. Want look around, just bind key for switching between looking around and steering. You can fix camera to blinkers or steering wheel and adjust sensitivity. Experiment with steering acceleration, field of view and seat position. Stereeing with mouse is much more precise and smooth than with keybord.

I know about that, but it's even worse than with holding that button xD But that thing about blinkers could be useful, so I'll try it.

Well I reworked my settings a lot, and it's much easier to drive now (mainly because I set non-linearity higher, because I had it turned off).

why not get wheel , or a controller, works way better.

I've got controller, quite old controller and when I tried to drive with it it was more than terrible. And I don't have enough money for decent wheel, and I don't even have place for it.

Here are some tips for mouse steering, been using it since I bought the game (I don't drive so I don't know how to use a steering wheel or whatever driving requires):

1. Turn down your sensitivity until you think is comfortable but also precise. I keep it around 5%-9% of the sensitivity bar. If you set it too high the steering wheel turns too fast.

2. My mouse movement with my hand ranges from 0,5 - 3 cm (5mm - 30mm) movement depending on how tight the curve is (being precise is key).

3. You MUST KEEP your hand firm always in tight curves, and make precise slow movements (right to left-left to right, it is not a steering wheel so you don't need to move it in circles) whenever you're in a tight curve or city.

4. When you get to a curve don't move your mouse quickly, I do it slowly and precisely as the curves gets tighter, and then move it back to center, precisely and slowly (All this in slow velocity 40-50 km/h, 8th transmission in an Scania or Volvo, 7th if it gets too bad).

5. To make precise movements with it in tight curves you need to lower your velocity. I use the retarder a lot and in case I need an even more precise movement in a special transport, I use the air brakes.

6. Use the retarder (avoid air brakes unless very necessary in slow velocity, I use air brakes simulation to help me get used to it) and cruise control, very helpful for mouse steering practice and for relaxing your hand.

SOME CONTROLS ASSIGNMENT TIPS:

a) Mouse controls:

I set Mouse Zoom for Left button and Free look for Right Button (I use free look whenever I want to lean towards the direction I'm turning to in a curve, then set it back to normal with the number 1, but honestly I never use it). I set my Mouse Wheel for Sequential Transmission.

b) Keyboard tips:

W-A: Accelerating and Braking.
A-D: Turn left-right indicator.
R-A: F for increasing retarder, R for decreasing.
Q-E: Look left, look right.
Alt: Back to Neutral.

My mouse is a 5 dollar Genius wireless.
There might be info you don't need here, but I wanted to make it as complete as I could.

When I started playing with mouse I set my sensitivity all the way down, almost on minimum. Now I'm playing like with 10% of senstivity bar. And I have wired mouse so it's not as easy. And about retarder, air brake, engine brake and things like that - I never used any of these and I don't know how are they different.

I wanted to buy xbox360 controller few months ago, and even though it's cheap I didn't had money for it.
