How to install mods on Mac for ETS2 or ATS
I've been browsing through YouTube looking for ways to install mods through the internet. Now I do see that in these videos these people somehow have a "mod" folder which I don't have in either of the two games. Although I was able to install mods through the Workshop, I thought that I can then open up the ETS2 folder and find the "mod" folder under finder. Unfortunately, I did not find any mod folder. So I tried experimenting and installed some mods from the internet and instead I created a separate folder and named it mods under the ETS2 folder. This was also unsuccessful, so how do I install mods for my Mac without a Mod folder or any such?

You might have a look at this thread on the SCS Forum: https://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=191676

Your ETS2 folder is in a hidden folder beginning with a dot. I don't know exactly where, just that when I mentioned that, another Mac user was able to find it. I don't know how you show hidden files with your file manager, but in my Linux file manager Ctrl+H toggles showing hidden files or not. In Linux my ETS2 and ATS folders are under ~/.local/share/ (the leading ~/ refers to or is interpretted by a shell as your home directory, in other words .local/share in home directory).

I tried that already, I put a mod in it and it didn't work.

With a horrible delay, (so most likely you've solved your problem now, after this long time), you must create a "mod" folder withing the "Euro Truck Simulator 2" folder that should be present inside your (follow the path, here): "Your HD (usually Macintosh HD)/Users/[your user name]/Library/Application Support". That is "Macintosh HD/Users/your_name/Library/Application Support(Euro Truck Simulator 2/mod".
Normally it's there, and if not, as said, simply create one. It should be named "mod", singular, and not "mods", plural; put your mods inside that folder and launch the Sim. You should be good to go, this way. Hope my advice hasn't arrived too late! ;)
Happy trucking.

@Bandit Bran and @whoever this may concern:

What version of macOS are you using? Anyway, since Mac OS X 10.10, the path is the same, as per description in my previous post. You cannot really miss it.

Again, single MODs are kept in:

Macintosh HD/Users/your_name/Library/Application Support/Euro Truck Simulator 2/mod

or

…/American Truck Simulator/mod

Steam Workshop MODs are kept in:

Macintosh HD/Users/Your_name/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/227300 (that is ETS2)

or

…content/270880 (that is ATS).

Further folders are numbered as per ID of every single MOD as they appear in Steam Workshop.

Thank you so much, exactly what I needed. :D:

I couldn't find a library folder in my user file.

@rltroyer77

That is because your library folder (within your user folder) is kept hidden by the OS itself. Apple tends to keep its files and folders not accessible for mysterious safety reasons, even if it's definitely your stuff to navigate to.
There are different methods on how to either access your Library folder, either make it visible, being this temporary rather than not. But it depends on you macOS version (Sierra, High Sierra, Catalina etcetera). So launch your browser and search for (copy here and paste in search field) "macos user library hidden" and find your answer.
Its' not difficult after all, but should you not feel comfortable in messing around with Terminal commands, at least GO TO your Library and then navigate within there. Application Support and Steam folders are there.
I am copying and pasting from the web, but follow these instructions:
• Click 'Go' in the Finder menu bar, and hold down the 'Option' (Alt) key.
• The Library entry now appears in the Finder > Go menu.
• Clicking Library directly opens the hidden User Library folder in a new Finder window.
Let me know.

Not at all, it's always my pleasure to help the not-so-many Mac gamers (meaning "not as many as Win gamers"!) still around after all.
I myself recently turned to a (quite powerful and modern, to be honest) Windows gaming PeeCee to enjoy ALL games existing, after years of wait (and dreams).
Will however still keep my avatar forever, since I've been around Macs since 1990, when I started my 'serious relationship' with computers! ;)

Anyway, enjoy yourself, and happy trucking!!!

Lol yeah, gaming with a Mac can be a pain. I've always considered getting a PC, but the bare minimum is around $1000 and I'm just not ready to spend that amount...
