LOW HEADLIGHT COVERAGE AT NIGHT
Not sure if anyone else has this issue but I seem to notice it in both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator and pretty much all the driving games, that once it gets dark out, and you don't use high beams, there is little you can see while driving. It makes it hard to even see the other traffic and curves in the roads unless you drive with high beam on. This is something that happens on all my devices that I play the two main driving games on. I love the games and have bought pretty much all the DLCs for both but that issue seems to stay. Is there a setting I need to adjust in order to see better at night or am I destined to use the high beams and annoy other vehicles.

I have played almost a Thousand hours on all my driving games including about 450 hours of ETS 2 but want to see what I can do to make it easier to view traffic and curves at night instead of using high beams

I think the issue is more so that your eyes can see better than the game camera. Your colour pallette is limited on a screen(even with millions of colours). You've got two choices. Either GTA V darkness(where it isn't even dark) or darker than real life. It's very difficult to find the right balance that keeps it consistant across all players' games.

Are you sure you are using the actual headlights? High beams are on a different button.
I can see just fine without the high beams. I use them just like I would in real life.

Look on mod sites for BRIGHTER HEADLIGHTS.
Problem solved.

PROBLEM NOT SOLVED,

Please refer to my personal screenshot that is saved under my user name and it will show the issue I have with lights,

I tried a mod for it but the mod made game crash twice.

Ok, I have looked at your screenshot and I don't see anything wrong. Seems to me you are complaining about nothing...

I once used a nice mod called "realistic headlighting" but apparently it hasn't been updated since 1.25.

What I am pointing out that on the two devices is that while yes you can see at night but when using the regular lights as opposed to the high beams, the coverage is lower and some of the curves in the roadways are not visible until you are right at them. Plus it makes it harder to see the other vehicles unless they are very close to you. I am not complaining about nothing, I am making note of minor visibility with the headlights at night. I will post a screenshot of the approach to a curve with regular lights and then a curve with highbeams and you will notice the difference

Do you drive at night in real life? As someone who worked nights for several years, I know night driving extremely well. The headlights here are pretty close to reality. Again, I don't see a problem.

In game, as in real life, you need to have high beams on unless the road is well lit or there is oncoming traffic. If your problem is that you can't see far enough without the high beams, well, that's what high beams are for.

The navigation system will help you to guage upcoming bends in the road and junctions. As someone who does quite a lot of night driving I don't find the truck lights unreasonable in comparison to real life. You may find that altering the angle of your monitor helps a small amount and try to minimise your screen reflection while playing. You could also add a little extra brightness to your monitor settings.

I like the darker nights, they require more concentration, particularly with the Special Transport DLC and the Gift delivery parts of the game.

I will try that option, I am not sure why it seems that people think I am complaining for nothing, I am just pointing out that the way my lights are set at, some aspects are a little harder for me to see, I was not aware I could alter the angle of the lights, thanks and I am going to try that now

with all due respect to others on here that have responded to my discussion, not all devices are the same and while the screenshots I have posted about the issue I notice on my devices, you may not see it on yours, Yes I do like the challenge of the low lights when driving at night but on my devices it almost seems non-existent at times and I was just wondering what I could do to make it better for me. Yes I can see the curves and other traffic with the regular lights but it does get annoying on my end of not being able to see as much as I would figure and that is probably due to my devices, I was only asking how I can change that for my devices, I went to see about adjusting angle but no idea how you do that. Like I said the issue I notice might just be on my devices and wanted advice on it.
