Doesn't really matter, ye're speed limited either way.
Beryll Argent Aug 20, 2017 @ 6:05am
It's bound to be heavier, so maybe.

Why not try it out yourself? Get two trucks of the same brand with the same engine and gearbox, but different chassis-configurations, and a long and straight road, and you're set.

the trucks with "the most wheels" aka the biggest trucks like the scania and the actros are slower, since the max bhp engines you can get for them is 625 i think.
so yeah, slower and less torque. (3000nm i think).

you can get single player mods to increase power and speed.
in multiplayer, you can use a 750bhp/3500nm mod for all trucks except the very big ones. i think.

turning a "short wheel base" truck into a "long wheel base" shouldnt make it slower. i dont think.

How much does 8001 liters of fuel weigh. I just got into this game, but looking at some trucks, some of them have huge fuel tanks, bigger than 300 gallon tanks in ATS.

800 litres is around 210 gallons... :)

You are missing a decimal point, I said 8001 litres. It is a huge tank in an extended area behind the cab. That is larger than the fuel tank we had when we heated the home I grew up in with fuel oil.

I think most of them are usually air pressure tanks.

I did see that, but thought you hit a 1 instead of the l for litre. :) Also, I don't think addon tanks actually change the fuel capacity of the truck; capacity is declared on the chassis IIRC.

1l of Water is approx 1kg.
No idea if fuel is heavier or lighter, but it should not be too much of a difference, so you could say8000l of fuel may be approx between 7,5t - 8,5t
Xyzan Aug 20, 2017 @ 7:45am
According to google, 1l of diesel weight 0.85kg. That gives you 6800kg.
However, does the truck really have capacity of 8000l?? Normal truck with two tanks has about 1400l... so, 8000l would be at least 5x more... I really doupt that is the real truck fuel capacity...

Maybe I did read that wrong and the l was an L. But does that tank really look smaller than the 1400 litre tank on the 4x2. I filled the 4x2 with over 900 litres when it was somewhat less than half full.

But maybe the bigger tank on right side also contains fuel, and smaller tank there with blue cap is for urea (pollution control)

Ya, the tank on the back of that 8x4 is not the actual fuel tank for the truck. The fuel tank is mounted along the chassis between the front and next axle, which is why the 4x2 has a larger tank; more room between the axles.
Xyzan Aug 20, 2017 @ 10:25pm
Look atvthe model, 8x4 does not have tank between front and next axle. It has a tank behind the cabin. Size is circa the same as normal tank size - 800 l. You can see that on 1st screen. One big tank is something about 800 l each. One is little smaller because of adBlue tank next to it. Look at old mercedes, it has one tank and fuel capacity of 600 l. New volvo has 2 tanks and 1400 l. That gives you approx size of the tank. Now, 8x4 has one tank behind the cabin - it is 800 l.
Ryu Aug 21, 2017 @ 7:00am
The tank on the tower behind the cabin is not the fuel tank for the truck.
Xyzan Aug 21, 2017 @ 7:03am
show me fuel tank on this configuration then

There is no space on the chassis here. On 4x2 and 6x2 you are right. Not on the 8x4
