i feel like i should be throwing money at the promods team
So donate to ProMods then instead of complaining about having to support the Developers to keep their business going that BRINGS you the core Game to use ProMods.
You still would have to buy the game & the dlcs to use promods...so it would not change a thing to right now.
OH Gawd ! Here's this "HEAVYHITTER451" guy back again whinging and whining about everything and anything !!
Wait, so you do need DLCs to play Promods. You see your logic being at fault here?
Plus, Promods team builds a big, great map, but not all PCs can handle it.
He has a right to complain, regardless of whether he does it "right" or not, over these latest updates. They have, by hook or by crook, messed things up for us ETS2 owners who do *not* yet have the VLF DLC, and who can only use the older ProMods 2.12 as a result. Going back to SCS's vanilla maps in this new v1.28 is an option? NO! No it isn't..... afterall, once you've used ProMods, you can never, EVER go back to the vanilla SCS maps, they fade in comparision, no matter how much DLC they put in.
I'm in exactly the same boat as heavyhitter AFAIK
What "half -a55ed map" do you mean?
Trouble with this is having to set up a damn PayPal account just for the express purpose of making such a small "donation". I'm sorry but I just don't do things like PayPal after previous experiences with them. No way am I going through the rigamarole of setting up an account I do not really want, let alone need, just for £1. Ok, they do give you the illusionary "option" to try download it all in multiple parts through "Zippy Share" (*if* they still use "Zippy Share" maybe they've found an even WORSE filesharer/hoster). But, anyone actually tried this? I recall suffering 100 bytes/minute download speed and having to sit through several dozen adverts before each download even began! Yeah, that's an "option" isn't it?
ProMods should co-operate more directly with SCS and Steam - I'd be happy to pay ProMods £5 for their latest version, paying it here through Steam, it would be win-win-win for us all..... instead of ths utter bollocks system they currently have with these "<ahem> optional <ahem> donations" and this bunch of crooks "Zippy Share".
That's not the fault of SCS though, they clearly state that they don't support third party mods, they're just updating their game. Blame the Promods team for being so heavily reliant on what each new official map expansion brings because they're the ones that are forcing you to buy the map expansions in order to use their mod due to that.
If ye use mods in ETS2, you're on your own in regards to SCS - most people know this, right?
Promods isn't as optimized as the default game.
Beggars can't be choosers. I refuse to use Paypal as well because I have a total hatred towards them as a company so I have to go with the free option or else I can't use PMs. It takes maybe an hour or an hour and a half to get all the files, sure it could be faster but if it was faster why bother paying for it? It's slow for a reason, but only impatient people fall victim to that tactic.
You got them downloaded in 60 - 90 minutes Dave? Was that for all seven parts (there was seven last time I tried it if I is 'membering right!), or is that 60-90 for each part? (Ie it took at least 7 - 11 hours overall)
I didn't even get that far..... this Zippy Share they used (probably still do) just never stopped with eternal recursive barrages of adverts. The actual download for even the first part never even started for me, even after four hours. Pretty much making the "donation" rather a "mandatory payment" IMO.
You may be wondering how I got the older ProMods v 2.12 downloaded at all..... well, back in February they put that older version up (for users who don't own the France DLC) for free - easy express download and all - without requiring "donations". Without that it would have been impossible.
As I said before, ProMods, SCS and Stream should work together, it'd be win-win-win for all if you ask me! OK, there would be dozens of inevitable legal issues over to wrangle over, but it's not an impossible dream surely? THis is up to them though, I'm not paid to sort this out for them..... all I can do is wish it were so.
Well, I'm having to play the waiting game. Next time Vive La France is on sale I'll get it (which I fully intended to do so anyway), and then I'll try an see if I can get ProMods 2.18 using to snail-download free option.
