And no you can not rip the old sounds and just use them as a mod as they are not compatible with FMOD.
And also this is what SCS said:
Do all you drivers who complain about the engine sounds play a different game to me and most other players?
It seems to be a common refrain that you can't possible play ATS or ETS2 any more because you're so offended by the sounds you hear.
Is that the most important aspect of the game to you?
Have you tried doing what truckers do IRL, and listening to the radio or your own music play-list?
That would be more realistic than banging on about how you hate the engine sound.
The location for suggestions is on the Wishlist thread at the SCS Forums:

You might want to read the SCS blogs more often, they have stated they are continually working on the sounds and the next release, coming shortly, is ver. 1.38, which will have further sound improvements. They wanted to get FMOD in place to give themselves the opportunity to improve all sounds and the way they are utilised in-game to best effect.
How about supporting a game developer that does this FOR FREE and does not charge for every update and use the in-game micro-transaction scam? Just a thought...
You might have noticed that SCS continuously worked on the old audio system over several years before deciding that a major overhaul was going to be the best direction and solution for long term game development.
Don't expect audio innovation and changes/improvements to stop at 1.38 - because we all know that this isn't how SCS work.
