001 files and 002 files etc.
I try to open files with 001 and 002 at the end of their name and there is always a corrupt scs file there, whatever i use to open it, 7zip or winrar. What can I do

Those are individual pieces of a multi-volume archive. You need all of the pieces to open/extract files from it. You can't open just one piece of it.

Usually there's one main file that you have to extract and the rest should follow automagically.

which mod are you downloading those files from/for?

Southern Region 8.0, but the same thing has happened for The Great Steppe

Assuming you're downloading from Promods forum links, there are 4 parts to Southern Region Map mod. You need all 4 parts in order to extract the mod.

Ok, I downloaded all four. How should I extract them

It should work when highlighting the first file, but I typically highlight all the pieces, then right-click and select the option to extract that suits you.

Once I've done that what should I do. (sorry if it seems that i am dumb)

Not sure if there's readme files or anything included, but you just need the .scs files extracted to your mod directory. Then you activate them in the Mod Manager on the profile on which you want to run that map.

nice, the first one worked, but 002 just has a 'model' file. what do I do with that?
Ryu Jul 4, 2020 @ 6:52am
Highlight all 4 archive pieces, then Extract. It should unpack the whole multi-part archive at once; you can't open each piece individually.

Did I do something wrong or should I be on a different program. I highlighted all of them but there is no button I can click saying extract all. This was on File explorer. I did the same but with WinRAR and it just moves the 001 002 003 004 files as they are to the mod folder

Likely it is a 7zip archive and my experience was that WinRAR couldn't deal with multi-volume 7zip archives. So I switched to using 7zip; it's free. ;)

ffs, listen to Ryu, it's really not that difficult.

get 7zip or winrar (contrary to Ryu i've never had issues with winrar)

just to clear any files out of the way, make a new empty folder, call it whatever you like, it's not important, copy the 4 files to that folder....

you have 4 files, Right click on the 001 file, if there isn't a 001 file, right click on the one that ISN'T 002, 003 or 004 (but possibly is .zip)

There should be an option "extract here" or something, that's what it's called in winrar, not sure about 7zip.

now it should, if you do it right, and there's nothing that you can do wrong, extract the files into 1 or more .scs files in the same folder..

Now copy those .scs files to your mod folder.
