Can you make all trucks in game have a 6 speed transmission by default?
I have a G29 with a 6 speeds shifter, and I find 6 speeds transmission much more enjoyable than 12 speeds (yet much less realistic, but it doesn't feel right for me to use the 12 speeds transmission.). When you create a new profile and don't yet have a truck, those rental trucks have 12 speeds transmission and I hate driving them. Is there a mod or an addon to make all the trucks in game have a 6 speeds transmission? Thanks.

In this case why not just use the box to either change up in odd or even gears - ie 1,3,5,7,9,11 OR 2,4,6,8,10,12. In any case RW truckers don't always change up and down through every single gear.

Too many gears for me in range transmission, and if I use the splitter transmission the first gear just don't have enough power as normal first or second gear, it feels just weird to drive it.

He is suggesting only mapping every second gear. So you only have six gears, but instead of them being 1,2,3,4,5,6, you have 1,3,5,7,9,11.

Yes I understood that, but in a 12 speeds transmission the first gears are not as strong as the first gears in a 6 speeds transmission. I would drive through roundabouts in second gear with a 6 gears transmission, but in a 12 speeds transmission I needed to shift to gear 7 when entering a roundabout! Any gear less than it is just too slow and it makes it unplayable for me.

Nobody's answered the orignal question, which is yes, there is a 6 speed transmission in the upgrade shop.

I am really having a problem understanding where you are with this. If, as in your example wish to use gear 7 - then using odd gear mapping that would be 4th gear on the g29 selector. For the full range on the gear shift:

Odd mapping
1 =1
2=3
3=5
4=7
5=9
6=11

Even mapping
1=2
2=4
3=6
4=8
5=10
6=12

This in any case is what you have when you set up the gearbox with a splitter

"Nobody's answered the orignal question, which is yes, there is a 6 speed transmission in the upgrade shop."

The OP indicates that he does not yet have a truck - so an upgrade is not a solution to the problem he descibes.

It is one option, but as I said, this way it feels extremely unrealistic to drive because you'd need to enter a roundabout in 8 gear! which equals to 4 gear that way, and it is extremely unrealistic. The first 4 gears in a 12 speeds truck are just useless, and if you select an automatic gearbox with 12 speeds you can see that the truck only starts from the 4 gear, which is also very short. I find it uncomfortable that way.
My question is if you can have ALL the trucks in game have 6 speeds transmission BY DEFAULT. I do know that you can buy one in the upgrade shop, but that's not what I asked. I want to start a new profile and begin with those rental cars which most of them have a 12 speeds transmission. Can you somehow make them have a 6 speeds transmission by default? Thanks

Then complete 3 1 km long jobs and buy your own truck.

The 6 speed is not exactly going to break the bank. Yes, you'll be stuck with 12 speeds for the quick jobs, but that only lasts for a little while before you can buy your own truck and put whatever gearbox you want in it. I suppose an option for forcing them all to 6 speeds might be convenient. It would probably be convenient for me, in fact, since I have to use paddles. Then again, I got on just fine with a 16 speed. But I only have to double-shift, not change gear sets.

Depending on how modding this game works, it might be possible to make all of the transmissions point to one of the 6-speeds, so whatever a truck has it will use one of them? Would be possible in some games I've seen but I don't know about this one. If so, that could be a possible solution.

But if you can map the stick to any gear you want, couldn't you just do something creative like for example 4,6,8,9,10,12? You'd need to change it if you bought a 16 speed or 6 speed, and maybe for really heavy loads which would be a small hassle. But that ought to do it. 1st gear is pretty low even in the 6 speed. I've been using it a bit lately and 2nd is plenty fine to start off with most loads.

I'm also not sure why with the odd/even mapping you'd "need to enter a roundabout in 8th gear" or why that becomes extremely unrealistic. I go through roundabouts in whatever gear is appropriate. I don't think there's a fine for not using a specific gear. Oh, apparently it is unplayable in a lower gear because you end up driving too slow. I don't think anybody can help with that.

But since the question is "can you make them default to 6 speed" and no other solution is acceptable, I guess the answer is no, you can't(unless you can change the transmissions by modding). SCS could, but they probably don't think it's needed.
