update cancelled my very long distance haul!
Hi, is there a way to get previous version back as I was in the middle of doing a 3500 km job and cant complete it now as it says the game has changed and I cant find it in betas as it says opt out of betas.... any assist please in loading previous build to complete my job?

For some of us that have a problem with this mechanism one of the things that grates is the disconnect of suddenly finding ourselves hundreds or thousands of miles away from where we were with the whole world having reset. Teleporting back to where we were hardly helps with that aspect any more than not quitting the game during a delivery is a valid response for those of us that have outside lives that sometimes affect our ability to sit and play games.

Now I completely understand why SCS chooses to do this for certain types of update (although doing it twice within two days shows a certain lack of planning and consideration for the player base in this one particular case - I suspect that marketing considerations overrode the practical ones) but I do have a problem with them treating your home garage as the only safe reset spot. It has long been suggested that a similar approach be used to that for calling for service, where the game identifies the nearest garage location (they must all be safe, because someone somewhere will have that garage as their home base) but nothing has ever come of those suggestions.

For myself I've learned to deal with it, and suggest that perhaps others who are as bugged by it as I am adopt a similar approach. When an update is flagged I take myself offline from Steam, if appropriate complete the delivery I am in the middle of, drive to the nearest garage, relocate myself and my truck to that garage (so that it becomes my HQ) using the truck and driver manager screens, save the game and then restart with Steam back online. If no game change is detected I've not really lost anything and the only negative is that at some point I will have to move my HQ back to its one berth hovel in the historic city of Cambridge.

Pretty sure the last minor version isn't in the beta list anyway. I had the same thing happen to me, it's very frustrating (first shipment from Carrara).

I've been trying to figure out if I can fool it somehow by moving stuff out of the backup profile it created into my live one, but don't have a clue if that's even possible.

ME too, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 2 h -3h wasted from last night..only 1h would have been left. I started new job again and was VERY ANNOYED..to the point that 2nd try was fail too tried to do it quick, at the end and after 2 rolls I got nice 0€ at end from 4h drive..from now on I stop doing over 1500km jobs, waste of time if this happens again. 40k times 3 is 120k that would have been from long job. This whole eveninig went down the drain.

Alumno Superstes Jun 2, 2020 @ 2:11pm

No, when you load a save from the previous version it resets the jobs in progress and moves you back to your HQ.

Looks like nothing has really changed except the release of the Volvo pack https://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=204048&start=160
No idea why they had to reset the profiles because of this.
Strange...
But this really does not happen often.
So there is no need to avoid long distance jobs because of this.

yesterday i bought all tuning packs but there was no volvo. Today: hell yeah! Volvo Pack!
My 230k Job, 1h for Istanbul was canceled...
I tuned my truck an saw, there are new pictures for motorblock and so on... i think thats the problem for the reset...

The same thing happened with the HS Schoch tuning pack which changed the save version number even though it didn't change any of the save file fields.

And the same thing again two days later, all for another meaningless update. Games, especially long form ones like ETS2, should at least respect gamers' time a little.

You bet, this is getting really quite frustrating. And all for what, some new style of wheelnut perhaps? There needs to be a smarter way to fit in updates without it wrecking on-going jobs. Other long form games are able to deploy updates without doing so.

Map updates will always reset your truck to a 'safe' garage.
This is because there's no way of knowing - without scanning EVERYone's game saves one by one - where player's trucks are, so to save thousands and thousands of crash games because the particular part of the map you were on, doesn't exist or has been changed, the devs created a situation where you are 'airlifted' from whereever you are, back 'home, without financial penalty.
Or, would you rather they didn't do this, and when a map update arrives (such as today) your save game crashes and is irretrievable. I mean, gone. Because the map data stored in the save game data, doesn't exist.
Today's update was something about a WoT Event? I was lucky, I was parked at my garage anyway.
It's so very frustrating, same thing happened to me, long-distance delivery cancelled, second time in just a few days. I understand it when they release a big map update, but purely for cosmetic add-ons? Why can't they just plan an update calendar, and roll them according to a schedule, instead of randomly? Or at least reward us with a proportional amount of money for the cancelled job, depending on how far we were with it. Would save all of us so much time and frustration.
