Beginner tutorial for creating mods?
I want to learn how to create mods for ETS2 but obviously I haven't done this before and I can't seem to find a good tutorial anywhere on the internet. Does anyone know of a nice and simple modding guide for total newbies like me, or maybe someone experienced in modding who can just teach me the basics? (By the way, yes I did check out SCS' own tutorials but those videos are a bit outdated and far too complex for a beginner like me.)

Well, specifically I want to make some cabin accessory mods. I've been trying to make a glowing hanging toy and I managed to make the 3D model on Blender but I have no idea how to texture it and pack it into a mod.

you will cant find specific one -.-

Just learn how to work with blender 2.8 ...
it have little changes in UI and not only compare to old one
but base of most actions are still same :)

Good start is to watch all vids from SCS Wiki :)
To be honest i found them a bit confuse for biggher
but they give a lot idea what you need to do :P

In general process is like that:
1. Creating the 3d model or edit
that action is totally depends only of your blender skill
2. Adding/using model into game
work mostly with def files like (.sii)
here you need to follow only SCS wiki all is explain well there
(or just follow/copy/edit the SCS files)
Important here is to understand what is mean of the object "name"
why they so specific how to use it in multi files (that is mostly for trailers and cargo).
... just dont be lazy to read SCS wiki

And one advice:
Start with something simple dont try to do the miracles in begging it have time for that :)

easy way for that is just to copy other hanging SCS def file
and to change the settings in def file for you

just extract the game with SCS Game Archive Extractor
goto def folder and strat look for
def\vehicle\truck\mercedes.actros2014\accessory\toyhang\
(example for MB 2014)

your folder that you care is "toyhang"
and that practice is for any accessory or tool you wish to add

I figured that out, thanks.

yes I know the topic is not realy new, but with the startpost of this topic creator I feel very addressed, only I would be interested in a different kind of mod.

I would like to revise the navi or the announcements this will work somehow via trigger points, I would like to bring this as close as possible to the announcements of a navi, as each of us knows from his own car.

e.g. In 10km take exit 63 to xy
Or follow the A3 120km

does anyone have infos/tutorials for this?

Well I want to create (or download) a mod that shows the actual real time so I know when it's time to quit and get on with something else (probably work...)

How about a clock behind and above your monitor?... Other than that there are apps, like Simdashboard that will allow you to create a dash on an android tablet or phone

If you are in the US, and want real immersion, head on down to your local Truck Stop and pick up a folding pocket clock. They are usually wind-up, and about the size of a pack of cigarettes.. They look like a larger ring/jewelry box when closed.

hahaha, that's probably the simplist solution or I could just wear a watch (haven't worn one for years now). But do I have a clock that could go there...

Or I could spend months programming something that doesn't work properly, I actually thought a realtime clock would be a simple addition to the cabin, but it proably isn't...
I did find a mod for a clock here:

https://ets2.lt/en/real-clock-and-time/real-clock-and-time/

but the download link is dead now...

I have suggested it to Steam here and then again joined a similar request here (that went ignored it too). If you want, push up the first request, cost nothing ; )

PS: I moved to windowed mode after years with my smartphone nearby, isn't so bad.
