FOV Calculator for ETS2
Does anyone have a way to calculate FOV for realism as they can for other driving games, if anyone can work it out, I have one 24" monitor and I usually sit 30" away from the monitor. Thanks in advance! :steamhappy:

Assuming that your monitor is 22" horizontal (diagonal measures don't matter so much) think 45 degrees

For realism, try between 50-60 which is minimal edge distortion while looking around the cabin interior without having too much narrow view. Adjust the seat position if necessary. You can play with lesser FOV while wearing TrackIR or other tracking devices.

That is simply wrong and not addressing the OP question :steamfacepalm:

^^^^ this, a new to me and great calculator (the one I was using simply bottomed out at 45 degrees), sad but true but folks endure a lot of fisheye as the realistic FOV more often than not is more unpleasant than the fisheye.,

If you have a calculator that works with 32:9 monitors ..... plz do :)

The only reason aspect ratio is a factor in the Drexel calculator is that they ask screen size as a diagonal. If they simply asked as horizontal then aspect ratio would not matter. SO, either find a different calculator (iRacing) that just asks for a horizontal measurement, or do some figuring and decide what the diagonal measure of your screen would be if it was in fact a 16:9, based only on it's horizontal width, eg if your screen is 60 cm wide it would have a 68.5 cm diagonal, and enter that figure into the Drexel calculator.

Does ETS2 use VFOV or HFOV? All I need to know

Ets2 can use either Hfov or Vfov.

In the Global config under the "Multimon" section...
If you plug in a horizontal fov it will take that figure, use it and calculate the rest.
Likewise, if you plug in the vertical fov it will take that figure.

For other folks that maybe don't know this; ets2 will read either of the values but you cannot plug in both horizontal and vertical. You need to chose one or the other.

The global config(config.cfg) is usually in your docs\ets2.

This is the lines you're looking for:

uset r_multimon_fov_vertical "0"
uset r_multimon_fov_horizontal "58"

======
======

fyi...I use triple screen rendering at @57x10 on 27" screens, so mine looks like below.

uset r_multimon_exterior_in_aux "0"
uset r_multimon_interior_in_main "1"
uset r_multimon_rotation_aux "0"
uset r_multimon_rotation_right "0"
uset r_multimon_rotation_left "0"
uset r_multimon_rotation_center "0"
uset r_multimon_vert_offset_right "0"
uset r_multimon_vert_offset_left "0"
uset r_multimon_border_fov_right "2"
uset r_multimon_border_fov_left "0"
uset r_multimon_fov_vertical "0"
uset r_multimon_fov_horizontal "58"
uset r_multimon_mode "2"
