Most people see it as a game, and rightfully so. And then there's these folks.
There are lots of things that could be done better from a truckies or a purists point of view and can be done by the end user by editing and modding ...Enjoy it for what it is instead of criticizing it for what it isnt..
Anyway, I think you might be mixing up European and US practices, but I agree that the cargo system needs improvements. No one would haul a load of sand across Europe, for example. The tipper trailer is only used for short hauls in real life.
You are expecting way too much of a game. This is a simulator, not reality. But above that, it's a game. And games are different from reality in many different ways. The game has, overtime, gotten better and only stands to get better as more time goes on.
Edit: Also, some developers have driven a truck. Not professionally, but on closed courses provided by Scania's test track location. They've been in the real trucks and have spent time around the trailers that get pulled by them. However, hiring a retired driver isn't worth much to them as your retired experience does not reflect current experience. If they were to hire a driver, it'd be someone with recent experience or actively trucking daily. [This is merely an assumption, but it makes more sense than retired hire.]
Only new tech on trucks is colision avoidance interfaces.. why because numbnut kids who txt and gopro more than drive are at the wheel of killing machines... Just because someone is retired does not make them inferior..
