Normally you have to wait for an update to be published, beware though, if you paid for the original you may have to pay again for the update, i find the free mods are just as good if not better AND you get the updates free also, Malc.

Normally you need to contact admin - rta for any update. RTa updates are free.

i would stay away form paid mods.. cz every time game update its big chance mode will not work.. and they will charge again...use workshop.. and if u really feel to support some mod creator send him gift on steam or something like that

maybe they are just slow getting back to me. ive realised that buying trucks isnt really worth it but trailers on the other hand 100% worth every cent. ive wanted aussie style stuff for a long time and it seems that the only way to do so is to pay someone to make them. impossible to find a roadtrain mod with aussie trailers and skins without the help of outside modders

RTAS updates are issued at no extra cost. But HiTmAn is correct, most time the game is updates by SCS causes the mod to break

By buying RTA mods, you are supporting IP (Intellectual Property) theft. They are selling models under the trademark of other companies. Even if they say, they are selling them to cover their costs of program licenses, it does not matter. It`s an obvious excuse to explain their actions. If you want to be transparent, use donations.

I have heard some truck brands are investigating their actions.

The only one I've heard that was investigating RTA was Kenworth Australia. Beyond that, I don't know. It is up to the legal departments to figure this stuff out. Whether anything comes out of it remains to be seen because RTA-Mods are Russian and legal costs for interstate type of things are immense. (to put things into small perspective, in the United States, just to start a Federal Lawsuit requires a $400 filing fee (if I recall, I'd have to find the video from a copyright attorney I like) and can quickly reach at minimum $25,000 in legal fees)

Anyway, depending on what SCS changes in the game, different mods will break depending on the patch. Trailer mods were somewhat broke when the new trailer overhaul came with ownership of those. Truck mods get randomly broken depending on the updates. Its one of those things that you can try running a version of a mod that's out of date by one or two patches and usually should be fine. Other times it may not be.

Pero i do agree with you about the intellectual property. but i find that its very hard to find trucks i like on the workshop. it seems to be 1000 pages of skins in the trucks section and not just that but most of them are euro spec trucks and im wanting Australian stuff and i did hear about the investigation into RTA in which i believe that RTA actually pays royalties to Kenworth Australia

that is worst thing about mods... wen i played world of tanks... i used lot mods.. and update happen.. bam game freeze.crash...random teleports... then u need to wait.. and u cant force moder to do it in day or two xd

It wouldn’t surprise me - the likes of kenworth (which I bought from rta once precisely because the K100&200 are so common in Australia) don’t exactly have to do a lot of investigating to find out if they’re getting royalties and issue a C&D if they’re not. Hope it’s true though. In reality a lot of people hate on RTA just because they charge for mods. That’s fine - just don’t buy them if you don’t like it. For me the real issue was that had a lot of problems with it and updating the trucks is unecesserily difficult - it can’t be that hard to have an updater or even just an account to log into to download the damn thing after all this time.

i think the problem is simply if it were that easy it would be easier to steal the mods and put them on the workshop and people can steal it for free

Except if its actually true, RTA is stealing the brand from Kenworth and can be sued out of existence very quickly. I can't speak for international type of things, but in the US, trademark is quite the protection to have. However, in order to retain those protections, you must enforce your brand and to take down those that misrepresent the products. This is why we have licensing deals when it comes to real branding. This is the primary reason I will not touch their mods. If they are in fact stealing the brands, then I can't support such acts. I can't tell someone to stop paying; that is their choice if they wish to do so.

On another note, RTA's stuff is well available online without having to pay with some searching around on the net. Its not so much as having an updater would make it easy or anything; considering its fairly easy to fix the zip files that some modders use to intentionally "break" the zip format to prevent modifcations of the mods.
