Mods Won’t Show Up
Hi,
I have wanted to install a few mods from ETS2 World. It downloads as a .scs file so then I extract it and then I have a file and .scs file.
Then I put the file and the .scs file into the ETS2 mods folder but when I go into the game they don’t show up.

I have uninstalled it from steam and downloaded it again but that doesn’t seem like a full game reinstall. Is there another way to do this

Sometimes you simply have to add the zip file directly in the mod folder, generally though if you already have an scs file just add it no need to unzip it.
if they arent showing up you have either , not extracted the scs file or if you did it wasnt done correctly or youre have placed it somewhere else and not in the documents/ets2/Mods folder . It has to be there and nowhere else . IF you have a zip/rar file and inside that you see a manifest.sii and other stuff then dont extract it , just place that file into the mods folder . IF it has an SCS file than Yes you extract that and put into mods folder.

Right folder is mod, not mods...
jensonayres Feb 5, 2020 @ 12:17pm
yes it is the mod folder, my mistake

And like xFetusx said, put mods in your documents\ETS2\mod folder, not in steam folder

here are some photos/
photo 1 -The bottom SCS internet explorer is what has been downloaded from ETS2 World. The file above that is when it has been extracted using 7Zip

photo 2 - This is what is inside of the extracted mod folder.

photo 3- this is what my ETS2 mod folder looks like now.

I hope this helps to solve my problem

Use good web browser like firefox or opera and don't extract .scs ending files. Also most modders uses .zip ending files, these don't usually need to extract either (take peek if there is another zip inside of downloaded zip, then you need to extract).

i use google chrome as my browser - that was the only file that needed downloading

jensonayres Feb 5, 2020 @ 12:49pm
even though i use chrome they still download as internet explorer

so you are saying that the .scs file which i download doesnt need extracting and just put it into the mod folder??
jensonayres Feb 5, 2020 @ 12:56pm
So, i have just put only the internet explorer .scs file into the mod folder but it still wont show up!

I was thinking the game might need a full reinstall. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling through steam but I still have all my data and profiles so it doesnt do a full reinstall.
Does anyone know how to do a complete reinstall.
It doesnt matter if i loose my profile

I would change 7zip to default .scs opener.

Just delete ETS2 folder from your documents, but just in case make safetycopy first?!

Edit: Try first another mod from SCS forum before reinstall... mod sites are full of mod thiefs and scammers..
