Promods vs SCS map size
Is the SCS map with all DLCs much smaller than ProMods?I had plenty of issues with ProMods about 2 years ago or so(Invisible walls, dodgy free download sites with malware) and I'd rather avoid it, but I'd like to know how much worse my ETS2 experience would be without ProMods.

ProMods should never come from a "dodgy free download sites with malware", it should just come from

There is a lot to be said for both SCS DLC and ProMods, a bit of apples and oranges, really. No choice if you want to drive in Iceland or Spain :steamhappy:

You start out on their site, for sure. However, the file hosting sites they use tend to be quite dodgy. Be sure to have all your anti-everything working. ;)

I stand corrected then. I've just used the big money (1 usd) option and have never had a hint of a problem :steamhappy:

Honestly, the last time I used Promods was way before even Scandinavia was released. I haven't used it since because MandelSoft really hates the idea of people fixing broken zip files of mods. I don't think he does much with the team anymore as he is an SCS employee, but it has turned me off from Promods ever since.

As it stands now, I don't think Promods is worth using too much because SCS has stepped up their quality in map skills quite a bit since Scandinavia came out. With all of the map DLC's, the map is rather large on its own. Sure, you can get Iceland, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, and a few other areas, but you need to own the DLC anyway to use the mod. So in that event, I'd just be better off playing the default game map anyway.

To downloading, it really only applies if you don't pay them a $1 or whatever it is for the fast-lane single-link download. Adblock, script block, common sense on the internet, and you shouldn't have too much trouble with malware invading. Sure its a bit of work, but what are ya gonna do? lol

Guess I don't necessarily need promods to enjoy the game as some would suggest thon..Thanks!

You should give it another try. Promods adds high quality content that always makes me wonder which is made by devs and which is made by promods. Along with adding way more roads and even a way to connect to Russia before the baltic DLC, which would allow the Rusmap which is an amazing mod.
