Yes it's a wireless Xbox 360 Controller connected via the Xbox 360 wireless receiver on Win 10. The driver you sent don't have anything for Windows 10 and as far as I remember Win10 already comes with the drivers installed.
I don't have any problems with using the controller on my computer at all, just that the settings in ETS2 don't save/reset.
As I already said, Win10 already comes with all microsoft drivers/updates included. And I can't download what you sent and "enhance" my controller, because it's only for Windows 7, Vista and XP. I have Windows 10.
I already read through this. All drivers and updates for my controller are already installed, I double-checked with the device manager.
Right click on Steam.exe and select "Properties" then select the "Compatibility" tab and near the bottom you will see a section under "Settings," Put a check mark in "Run this program as an administrator" then start Steam up and test it out.
I know what you mean but that is not the problem. The problem is that in the controls settings it's always reset to keyboard only even though every time I start the game I set it to keyboard + controller and I always have my controller turned on before starting the game. I continue to play until I turn off the game and then when I start it up it's reset to keyboard only again.
Yeah it doesn't save, checking the files it only shows the lines below. How do I manually edit them for it to permanently stay as keyboard + controller?
Did you try running Steam as Administrator?
That said it would be best to try to determine why that file is not saved as it might mean that other things are not saved as well. With W10 I have seen case where Windows update changed rights in the Documents folder which prevented the game from writing there and also case where some additional security settings in the Windows Defender blocked access to Documents folder until user confirmed some popup message.
That's the clue I needed. Windows 10 had set the ETS2 folder under documents to "read-only", once I unchecked the box and applied it to all subfolders, my settings are now staying at keyboard + controller! Thanks for getting involved, Komfr.
No, it can prevent many issues with other games/3rd party programs like you are having now.
