Truck overheating?
Why does every truck in game have the engine temperature gauge so high? For example, on the board computer it will say that it's on 85C which is normal but the gauge is nearly in the red? https://imgur.com/a/85BP5jq

I see this with the Scania S 2016 as well. Very high range for temp gauge, even though temp says 80-85C. Possible bug.

At 100 C the water is boiling, the gauge would be close to red - 85 - 90C is close to 100C. Easy as that. Perfectly normal.

100C water is boiling in a normal envoirment, but not in trucks or cars

To op, did you took that photo with your phone?

Got this off some site I quickly googled

Pure water, as you may know, has a boiling point of 212°F (100°C) and a freezing point of 32°F (0°C). However, when you create a 50/50 mixture using water and ethylene glycol, the boiling point rises to 223°F (106°C) and the freezing point lowers to -35°F (-37°C). When you take it one step further, creating a 30/70 mixture of water and ethylene glycol, the boiling point rises to 235°F (113°C) and the freezing point lowers to -67°F (-55°C).

Trucks I've driven have the temp gauge in F, but 85 C seems close

and also the cooling system is operating under higher pressure than the atmosferic so it makes the coolant boil even higher. thats why one should not open the radiator or coolant tank when hot. it will spray all over the place. in -55°C the fuel will be rock solid :D or will be like peanut butter. in those temperatures even vodka can be eaten with a spoon like a pudding.

Yes like cars. It's called a pressurised system. No water loss. Hence why you do not top up radiators anymore. Cars and trucks have expansion vessels, whereby the expanded water goes into when running and returns when cooled.

I get what you're saying but it's more about gauge range, than simple mathematics. Gauges are calibrated. If 'normal' was simply where 85 was, compared to 100, you wouldn't have much indication of an engine about to overheat.
I haven't seen this 'hot' engine in ETS2 previously. It's possible that a variable for multiplying, or computing the engine temp, has a typo.

What I was trying to say that when the truck is at for example 90C, which is normal, shouldn't the gauge be in the middle, how come it's so high?

Its not normal!!! in RL the temp.Gauge is normal 85° or 90° and in exteme conditions 100°/105° or if threre's a malfunction a red light flickers in the temp.gauge. But now, ingame? Its not normal.
i get this a old thread but i dont get why scs dont implement overheating into the game. for people that dont want they should release the option to turn it off like with the abs they did on new ui

And as usual people forget:
1) Anything that is optional for the player is mandatory for the devs to code, implement, bugfix and upkeep.
2) Vehicles don't overheat normally. If yours does, something is very wrong with it and you should get it checked.
3) Anything related to trucks needs to be communicated and negotiated with the manufacturers. Unless they all give the green light, it won't happen. The trucks are licensed and SCS can't just do whatever they want with them.
