What's up with all of the speeding tickets?
My last run I got like 6 speeding tickets.

I got a speeding ticket for speeding up in the 40kmph on ramp to the 90kmph highway. Am I seriously expected to merge onto a 90kmph highway from 40kmph?

I then got a ticket going through the toll booth? wtf. it has no speed limit, and the speed limit was 50kmph at the last posting. I noticed my 40ish kmph auto pay drive-thru lane I seen my speed go red when it ticketed me. I had just rapid off my loan before going through the toll booth, so I know how much money I had. I know I wasn't charged over a $1,000 for a toll charge.

I then get another speeding ticket right when I could see the speed limit sign tell me of a speed change. I barely got my foot on the brake and it ticked me. I think we should get a little leeway on the ticketing, since the game has no speed change ahead signs to warn us of a sudden slow down. Those signs are unreadable until it's too late.

Worse, it slows down, then speeds, up, then slows down in a very short window, usually around a city with no time see the signs from so much traffic blocking out views.

I mean I don't mind a challenge, but these are plain and simple speed traps to drain our money. If it wants our money so badly, then they can charge us more for other things instead of making it annoying to play from petty speed traps.

I stopped playing a year ago because of these, but heard they had a new and improved patch. I love the performance increases. My system runs so smooth now. Sadly the AI didn't get the same makeover.

Anyone else as peeved as me? lol

lol yea the speeding tickets can be annoying but ive been waiting for an achievement for so many speeding tickets in a lets say 500km run. But look on the bright side one you have been issued the ticket there is no point slowing down........unless your in town and a block later you get another $1100 ticket lol

No, you are expected to accelerate on the last stretch of the ramp, where the limit changes to 80 or 90. I agree that this should be fixed.

Yes, some toll booths have a 30 km/h limit. It is displayed on the roof.

You can assign a zoom key in the settings.

That is because of the small scale of the map. But I agree that it would be better to remove such fast changes.

There's a 10 % rule in ETS2, by the way. So at 40 km/h limits you can safely drive 43, and at 80 km/h you can drive 87 without getting a ticket.

How would turning off the speed limiter of the truck so that you can drive faster than 90 help him in not getting fined for driving too fast?

Dude I haven't played game in a while, but I know you can turn off traffic offences, not speed limit - I guess I didn't come off as clear

I did as well. Mainly because of those reasons.

I have speed limiter - fines on , and on my every delivery +2.000 km i got zero fines, this is supossed to be simulator,so i'm playing on that way.
On highways, you shouldn't get over 85 km/h,in France and UK you can go up to 90 km/h,but on other countries its limited at maximum 85 km/h.
On normal roads,speed is limited at either 65 km/h or 70 km/h.

Yeah, I turned off fines last time from frustration, then it got boring as I could speed all I wanted. Then I found the no speed limit option as was racing everywhere. But it just got boring with no challenges to the game.

I'd prefer that the devs just make minor adjustments to the game.

I guess I just will have to live with it for now. I'm starting to get a feel for when things go bad, so I can avoid penalties.

Now if I can get the retarder to work, I'll be set.

I have it enabled in gameplay options under truck settings, but it still isn't working. Is there another option? I hear people getting it to work. I just keep cruise control around 82 or so that way I get less speeding tickets on downhills. Except the steep ones.

what game ? theres like zero difficulty except for the fastest deliverys. People are mostly playing it for the atmosphere like a walking simulator

In addition to having it enabled in Options, you need to have a transmission equipped that includes a retarder. They will have an 'R' in their part number and should also say "Retarder" in the description.

This problem with unfair speeding tickets happens in a few places more than others. The worst is Italy as a whole, and I have the DLC. Italy has insane 40kph speed limits on the ramps so you are constantly slowing down and speeding up. I drove to each city there and never came back, so annoying to drive in Italy. Another issue is speed limit changes going into town. I tried slowing down by reducing CC so the retarder can slow me down, nope, wasn't fast enough, got a ticket.

I also got a ticket from an AI driving playing too much in the stop light, and I AM THE ONE WHO RAN THE RED APPARENTLY. Most of the time the AI is fine on roundabouts but sometimes they see me making a wide turn, take off from behind me, and slam their gas until they hit the very rear of my trailer in a suicidal manner. And I got charged for the crash half the time, half the time no ticket just damages.

Summary: turn fines off, they are BS in this game 80% of the time and wouldn't hold up in court.

Yes, I make sure to have the retarder transmission. That's how I found about the retarder. It was the same transmission but cost more. So I searched and found about retarders. Now I always buy them. But I just can't get them working properly.

This is why I turned off fines a long time ago. It felt so unrealistic to be fined by some all seeing eye for doing something which actually helps safety and traffic flow.
RedLightning Oct 3, 2018 @ 6:59pm
I'm for relaxing the time it takes to get a ticket. I have a very difficutl time seeing the signs untill they are on top of me, as was already mentioned in this thread.

I remember when ATS was young the yellow lights were WAY too short.. a mod fixed it for a good while. Then the mod is un-needed as they made the longer yellows official.

Getting tickets constantly for minor overs would make me send my car to a compactor and never drive again.
