Problems with steering with the XBOX 360 Controller
Hey there guys!

Lately I've been really getting back into EU2, but since I had a new PC, I had to reinstall everything and all my saves were gone, so now I started a new game and had to change all the settings for controller, etc.
But I noticed one REALLY BIG problem with the controller.
The faster I go, the less I can turn the wheel to steer.
I can hold my knob to the rightest point there is, the wheel will only do half of a turn and then start going back by itself, the faster I go (for example, I'm at a full stop, turned the wheel completely to the right and then went forward, as soon as I reached 7km/h, the steering wheel starts to turn back to center). I almost crashed sometimes because of this, but I can't find anything, that could be related to this. The only way to turn the wheel fully, is by having no speed at all,

Another example: When driving onto the highway, you're supposed to drive 40km/h. I can only drive 20km/h, because if I drive 40, I can't turn the steering wheel enough, without it going back, and would crash.

Does anyone know what to do about this?

Turn your steering sensitivty all the way to the right and your steering linearity all the way to the left. Post your results.

Thanks, I tried that, but unfortunately, it did not help. Problem remains all the same

I had zero issues with my Xbox360 controller. Never had to change any settings for steering from the default. The problem might be external. Sometimes on the forum I read about controller mapping problems and I saw people pointing to something relating to Steam controls. I have no idea what I'm talking about, but play around in your Steam settings and see if there's something you can disable there. Hopefully someone might understand what I'm awkwardly talking about.

That could be, maybe, but I highly doubt it. I've taken the controller straight from the console, paired it with the wireless usb receiver thingy you need for it to work and went to play. Just like the last few times, when I did, and everytime, I had no troubles. It's really weird and it's ruining all the fun, because everything not related to going straight on a highway is simply a pain in the a**

As I discovered it, there seem to be a lot of people having the same problem. I haven't played since maybe 8 months, could it be that this was added during an update in that time?

np at all here also..its bound to be some settings , eitehr ingame or out of it.
it goes exceptionally well, i dare say.

Nop, what you described is just expected behavior, as the controller joysticks moves only 15 degrees, more or less, game compensate this short movement according to truck speed.

I have been using a M$ Xbox 360 wireless in both games for quite some time, just got used to how it works.

If the 2nd post here didn't helped you and want a better experience, maybe, this is time to get steering wheel.

Same here, it's windows, they force you to use there driver instead of the old controller.inf
They disabled the (good working driver) and force us to use xbox driver, wich is ♥♥♥♥. one day everything works fine, next day driver is gone!? And sinds most steeringwheels are plug and play there are no drivers made for it. choose in settings (ets2 game) steering wheel - xbox driver, in de line beneath that choose also xbox driver or your pedals will not work. adjust near your wish.
some buttons are not regonised but atleast i can drive. windows go to hell please.

Thanks for that information! Do you maybe know if there's a difference in different controllers? Like, would the steam controller have different behavior?

Also, would you or anyone have some recommendations for steering wheels? It doesn't have to be one of the top ones, I've seen some for 50€ and that's roughly the budget I have.

Is this a Windows 10 issue? Because my controller works fine.

Dunno about other controllers, I only have the one stated.

Also I have M$ Win10, with drivers updated.

99% of the time it works, I made a little guide and have no problems with it. You may wanna check.

Also, the only mod I can't live without is Improved Gamepad Steering, found it in the SCS forum.

I fixed the problem, at least for me. I threw out every single mod, and now I can play normal again. I have no clue which mod it was, but I'm just happy to finally play normally again.

Well, if you still enjoy your mods, enable them one by one until you find the one that was causing problems.

Thanks for that suggestion, but those mods are already some older ones. Originally, I bought the game as a CD, now, since the sale, I bought it on Steam, so I got myself some nice graphics enhancing mods, which is basically what I had before, and all I wanted for now :D
