Yup.

Don't have to use the shifter if you don't want to. Set the game to automatic in the settings.

Sometimes though manual gears help, typically coming out of a quarry on a dirt road with heavy load. Auto seems to upshift too soon and then you just stall it on the hill...Not often though.

I have got a Logitech racing wheel (GT 27). I ahve had no problems with that wheel as I have owned Saitech before and isn't as good as Logitech. I use sequential gears, but I use mostly automatic through sequential gear box. That way I can still over ride the gear box to the gear I need, like lowering the gears for heavy driving.

I have a 2nd hand DFGT and fitted the G27/29 shifter to it using an adaptor. The software that comes with the adaptor allows me to retune the settings as the H gate wears and input the new data positions for a better gear shift. The wheel is a little jittery but works a treat. If I ever get rich I'll go for a newer wheel but this one does nicely until then. You can use it on automatic. I have problems with my legs at the moment so I'm just using an Xbox 360/windows device instead and that also is perfect for the job.

As a starter wheel, its an amazing wheel that can be used both for ETS/ATS and for any racing games (PCars, Assetto Corsa, etc).

The FF motor and gears can/are a bit loud, but not really an issue (at least not for me).
It also has quite a few buttons on the wheel that you can use for loads of stuff.
