How do I install and use a mod?
...
Publicado originalmente por JBM:
If you've downloaded a zip file, just place that in My Documents>Euro Truck Simulator 2>mod. If this is your first time using mods, and you don't see a mod folder inside the ETS2 folder, just go ahead and create it yourself. Note that it needs to be named "mod" and not "mods".

If it's a Steam Workshop mod, then click the Subscribe button on the mod page, and it will automatically be downloaded and added to your collection.

When you start the game, click on the profile you want to use, then click on Mod Manager and activate the desired mod there.

Depends.

If you're downloading it from the Steam Workshop then you click Subscribe, fire up the game and activate it in the mod manager (before you select a profile to play)

If you're downloading a .scs file from the web then download it, put in in My Documents > Euro Truck Simulator 2 > mod and then fire up the game and activate it in the mod manager (before you select a profile to play)

Make sure you have them loaded in the right order, otherwise it could cause problems. If you consider promods, here is a documentation about the correct mod-order:
https://www.promods.net/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=14523

Read the mod-description to check if the mod you want to install needs a specific priority.

I put the zip file into 'mod' file but I can't see it in mod manager
Do I need to unzip it?

The mod manager is able to read zip files in their current format. If it's a .rar file or similar, then it will need to be extracted using something like Winrar. Then you place the extracted .scs file in the mod folder.

Is the mod compatible with the version of ETS2 you are running?

Be aware that some third party sites really aren't worth the risk with potentially dodgy downloads.

But there are 5 .scs file in that .rar file
What should I do.....

Ah ok, so you transfer those .scs files to your mod folder. There's usually just ONE .scs file. I would guess that the others are supplementary mods to the one you wanted. Eg; maybe physics or model-specific files for the bus you want to use. If there is a readme file in there, see what it says about the different files that were included in that download.
