In your "def/vehicle/truck" folder in your ETS2 docs folder, make a new one called "mercedes.actros"
Then inside that folder, mak a new one called "sound".
Leave the mercedes.actros2014 as it is.
from your extracted def.scs folder, copy the two files from:
def/vehicle/truck/mercedes.actros/sound
to the same folder you just made in your mod folder.
Navigate to your def folder in your mod folder. In:
def/vehicle/truck/mercedes.actros/sound
edit the two files the same way you edited the 4 sound files for the Actros 2014 in my previous post.
Save them both.
See how that goes.
Maybe you could try again on a new profile without mods, just in case that one of your mods interferes with or changed the sound settings.
What if I extract base.scs and remove turbo_*.ogg files - how do I recompress the extracted files back to a base.scs ?
I'm sorry it didn't work yet.
One thing I have noticed is that your SII files are different from the default version. You apparently removed (from line 10)
and (from line 80)
But I am not sure if that's making a difference for your issue.
I don't know what happened when I used this the first time and it didn't work (perhaps it was conflicted by some "Sound fix"/"Sound improvement" mods or perhaps it didn't have top priority), BUT it actually won the battle with the turbo whistling sound.
The high pitched turbo whisling ringing in the ears sound is finally gone.
Many thanks to everyone who posted in this thread, especially to pieperjohanns and room217au. I do very much appreciate your help.
Job well done Cromi, and thank you very much for this mod.
Therefore, the problem is solved now.
Have a nice day and please do take care!
Regards,

From Cromi's suggestion:
def/vehicle/truck/mercedes.actros2014/sound/interior_16.sii
Clearly you were doing something wrong. But, like others above, I'm glad you sorted it out.
Cheers.
