Playstation 4 controller support

I was looking to pick up ETS2 in the halloween sale. I plan to use an official PS4 controller that I have enabled in steam settings and is working with my other games.

My question is will I be able to just remap buttons in options (whether in game or steam settings) and play or will I need to use DS4Windows etc.?

You should be able to remap them in game without having to download anything or go through other applications. You probably already figured it out but I replied anyway

How do you actually remap the PS4 controls. The guide I saw said to change the control setting from Keyboard to "Keyboard with [something] Controller, but mine only had options for keyboard and mouse. Nevertheless my controller DOES work and I've been using it. The default controls are useable but there are some functions I'd like to have on the controller that aren't there at the moment.

Also, is there a cheat sheet for the default controls somewhere?

There’s no cheat sheet, U just gotta look through setting and find which button set to what. If its not coming up in Setup Wizzard in Controls it might be because there is some drivers or something that must be downloaded

To remap them you should just be able to go into setting and click on the option you want to re assign with your mouse and then press the button on keyboard or controller that you want to bind to and it should work

Huh, oddly enough, I cannot use the button config screen to set controller buttons. And on the controls screen, all of the controller related options are greyed out. I'm amazed the controller works despite the game otherwise not knowing it's there.

I'm not a fan of Steam's system for my DS4 when I used it (I use a G29 now), if you want to use it in non-Steam games (a big reason why I don't use Steam for it) use ScpToolkit. Works for DS3 and DS4, and it works great.

I have the same problem and search this discussion by google.
I remember the key can be set years ago, but it not works at this moment, I guess the design was changed.
However, I got the solution by myself. You can set the key by Steam UI. Yes, in Steam UI.
Right click "Euro Truck Simulator 2" > management > controller config (similar meaning because I use Chinese)
You can use it in game.
