manual and automatic gearbox (help me for setting)
Hello everyone, I wanted to ask how it is possible to switch from manual to automatic transmission. I'll explain. I use the steering wheel and g27 pedals, with gearbox set to manual and driving I would like to switch to the automatic one. How should I set up the game to do this?
I leave a video that can help to better understand what I mean.
Thanks to those who will answer me.

What you see here is an automatic Scania, if you have ever driven one in real life, you would know that they have a first gear clutch.

That is, you only use it to start off, then everything is automatic.

The game does not correctly emulate the way the Scania Automatics work.

In game, if you select real automatic, you can switch to sequential on the fly. You can set a key for this. Which means you can go up and down the gears, does not require a clutch press.

I *think* that truck has a sort of semi-automatic transmssion. I don't know too mutch about truck transmissions, but it looks like and automatic with a manual clutch, i.e the driver only needs to use the clutch to select drive, nuetral, or reverse. You can set up the game so you have an automatic transmission, although I don't know if the manual clutch is still an option. Just go to control settings and select real automatic.

In game, the clutch is not involved, unlike in the video. You must Escape to the "home" screen, go to Options/Controls, and , near the top, select Real Automatic from the Transmission dropdown, then rejoin the game. Same process to return to H-Shifter.

ok thanks for your reply, I have selected real automatic transmission in the game settings, and up to this point ok. but to go back to the manual gearbox, do I have to go back to the game settings or is there a way to do it automatically (so that I can switch from automatic to manual) maybe by selecting a button?

Thank you for your answer, so you're telling me that there is no possibility of doing this exchange, using a key. Do I have to go to "settings" every time?

You can shift between auto and manual. Look in buttons setting in options and you will find it. I have mine assigned to HOME (all the buttons on wheel/shifter assigned) key so I can switch to manual on climbs or getting out of quarry.
I have shifter but its set to sequenrial as I use Volvo with I-shft gearbox.
Dont know if its quite what you are after but that the nearest I can do.
I am using G25 and the shifter has option of H or sequentiol

I understand, in fact I saw that I can use the sequential, with the automatic transmission.
I thought it had both changes (automatic and manual) and that you could "choose" using the clutch (or a key).
Thank you so much for your answer.

No problem, you would really only know about the clutch on the Scania auto if you have actually driven one, was tricky when I first saw one lol... :104:

very interesting, could you give me a screenshot of your settings, just to better understand which key should I use to do this?

thank you so much !!!

I suspect that he means Real Automatic to Sequential, not Real Automatic to H-shifter

Yes, thats the only way to do it.

Under keys and buttons there is a setting for "Gearbox Switch Automatic/Sequential"

Note, that changing in sequential can't be done on the shifter, it needs a key assignment, one key for up, and one key for down..

So you will need to assign 3 keys..

Your shifter will still work in auto mode, mine is set to the 3rd gear spot as forward, and the 5th gear spot as reverse, which is the natural up and down from where the gear lever sits when it's in neutral..

I have a g27, so I assigned buttons on the gearshift pad to those functions..

Just to come in on the above - I have a g27 H shift but use it for automatic, set for Real automatic. on the Shifter 3rd gear is set for forward and 4th for reverse. I also have a button set to toggle between full and sequential. I replicate the same shifter gear settings to go up and down the sequential gears. ie 3rd gear UP and 4th gear DOWN. For example if you are in full auto and on a steep hill its chasing the gears - press Sequential button and you will retain the current gear - use gear lever up/down for the appropriate gears. When leveled off re toggle the auto button, ensure shifter is in forward position to go back full auto.

Perfect, thank you for your answer, I think I will follow your settings, so if I find myself in trouble (for example in a climb) I choose the fixed gear, with the assigned key.

Hopefully you've got it all sorted - if not- then in SETTINGS
in CONTROLS:

Transmission: Real Automatic
Adaptive Auto Transmission: Either NORMAL, HIGH or ECO (your choice)
Autobox Drive: 3rd Gear (G27)
Autobox REVERSE: 4th Gear (G27)

In KEYS & BUTTONS

Shift UP: 3rd Gear (G27)
Shift DOWN: 4th Gear (G27)
Gearbox Sequential/Auto switch: Button/key your choice
