Do I have a pirated version?
I started playing ETS2 about 6 month ago, I learned of the game through a (obscure) FB link, I payed for the Rocket League Promo to steam. The game works wel, so I started going into making some skins, worked ok through studio. So now I started to make skin for the Next Gen Scania (not through studio) by changing exciting fles and are ending up with pink trucks.
I read somewhere that if you have a pirated version that might happen. I tried everything I could find on steam, nothing seams to work, it drives me cray

Moh's response is correct, among others who did show examples of this. However, I do believe that the pink truck textures may have been an anti-piracy feature that may still be in the game today. I can't confirm this or anything, but I do recall that being the case at one point in time.

More likely that the pink textures was just a result of the anti-piracy measures deliberately corrupting the game experience to try and stop people pirating it (plenty of other games have done it). The texture corruption on its own isn't proof of the piracy, in the same way that a missing set of keys haven't necessarily been stolen.

Red is the color for missing texture, pink is the color for pirated version.
shut up [background noises]

What about no ? What about reading the whole topic before trying to be almighty, huffing and puffing, attempting to overthrow long standing beliefs, with your miniature horse made of hay like it's some kind of Troyan horse. Get a grip on your attitude.

I'll put this up, maybe it helps, maybe not but it is essentially the file and folder structure I have for skins I've done so far.

def ¦_vehicle ¦_truck ¦_*stock truck folder name* ¦_paint_job ¦_*Unique paint job, truck and cab style*.sii material ¦_custom ¦_*Unique Icon name*.dds ¦_*Unique Icon name*.mat ¦_*Unique Icon name*.tobj vehicle ¦_truck ¦_upgrade ¦_paintjob ¦_*Unique paint job, truck and cab style*.dds ¦_*Unique paint job, truck and cab style*.tobj

Then I just make sure all references within the files are correct. The only other thing I would mention is I have had issues with character limits for the entry "accessory_paint_job_data :" in the .sii. If it's too long, it doesn't load and the log comment says it's read only or something along those lines...from memory, been a while since I ran in to it as now I'm aware of it.

Edit: Oh bugger...need to work out how to keep the format.

Another edit: Thank you code box.

Thx. man appriciate it

@bogaj stick with Manwith Noname and the others, ignore the piracy preachers
A little reference image for you from a 100% legit copy of game.

If the tobj is not found there may be a bad pointer in your .sii or the tobj is misnamed or non existent.
If the .dds is not found it will be a bad pointer inside the tobj to the dds, a missing dds or a wrongly named dds..
Good luck

Thx. Karli, after carfull reviewing al the tobj files I have found some bad pointers

Actually, anti-piracy doesn't even have to be about corrupting the game experience. Some developers are pretty clever about it and have a little bit of fun in the process that also works for the users too.

There's one game I can't recall atm that changes the games theme to a pirate theme, but is still fully playable. One I've played (still need to buy, but lack of money hurts) just gives you a nod, but doesn't stop you from playing. Devs that respect the users and not hinder could, in theory, lead to more sales. Partly why any title that has DRM in it, I'll just wait for a deep sale before I consider buying them, especially those with Denuvo.

Oh absolutely, it is just one way that measures can be enacted to try and combat piracy. Other older ones include stopping certain mission objectives from being able to be completed, or require certain information from the game manual that you wouldn't have if it was a pirated version (back in ye goode olde days of physical manuals/discs). A classic one was Serious Sam 3, which was exactly as normal except a giant invincible bright-pink killer scorpion would chase you indefinitely.

Ah yeah, the old manual one. That was an old anti-piracy check that was common during the Commodore 64 days and probably a bit after too. (and probably before, I don't know the complete history too much other than some stuff I've seen on Youtube)

I remember the DRM for the original Sid Meier's Pirates! Gold game, which would install and play normally until a few minutes in when you would spot a pirate ship on the horizon, and you had to identify it via the flag (which was only listed in the manual)
