DX11 Shortcut
Is there a way to make a shortcut to launch the DirectX 11 version of ETS2? I don't normally like to launch things from the Steam client.

it should remember your last launch option as your preference

It does not seem to. If I launch one of the 32 bit versions from Steam, it says 32-bit on the version numbers at the start screen. If I then launch from the shortcut, it says 64-bit. 32-bit vs 64-bit is not what I care about here, but it was an easy way to check weather or not it remembered the last used launch options. Possibly im just misunderstanding something.

You can use 3rd party tools live Riva Tuner to display the render path, BUT you can open the console and type in r_device and it will return the render path you are using for example
00:02:19.052 : r_device 00:02:19.052 : "r_device" is:"dx11" default:"dx9"

Hope that helps

Yup yup yup. I just misunderstood something I think. It is using the correct renderer. Thank you for the help. :cozyspaceengineersc:

Surly there is some way using 'Launch options'?
It is a pain in the index finger to have to choose the 64 bit DX11 option every time I start the game, and I start the game a awful lot.

The dev's know the command but they are not sharing, why?

They've shared the command the day they've launched the open beta with DirectX 11.

From steam client, go to "Library", RIGHT-click on the game name at the game list, select "Properties" then click on "Launch Option" button. For ETS2, put a "-rdevice" argument to override rendering engine. For example, to always use DirectX 11 no matter what defined in config.cfg, put this on Launch Option:
-rdevice dx11

To force DirectX 9, use this:
-rdevice dx9

To force DirectX 11 on x64 version, use this:
-rdevice dx11 -64bit

thats why the steam client exists, better then having 100's of game icons on the desktop or start menu :P can even use it to add shortcuts for NON steam games

Steam is a great store, but a terrible launcher. I get games from multiple places. While its possible to add the non Steam games to Steam, its really not ideal. Instead I use shortcuts, and another app that lets me organize and launch them in a way that is quick, easy, and (unlike Steam) attractive.

Na! Still comes up with the menu.

Are you running a 32bit os

No. I manually selected it to see if the game would remember the last startup option. I don't really understand just why It doesn't remember 32/64 bit when it does seem to remember the renderer, but that's okay. I confirmed that I can run the DX11 version from the shortcut, and that's all I wanted to do.
