Realistic suggestion: Turn on street lights slowly
At the moment street lights turn on in a flash when night comes, irl they turn on slowly to avoid causing a sudden spike of energy draw from the power station. It's also a little annoying to the eyes when one plays in a dark room at night.

Street lights come on when the sensor in the top of them doesn't receive enough natural light. They fade because of the type of lamp fitted. They've all been replaced in my area with horrible white LED's so they don't fade anymore but the traditional orange lamps are sodium vapour. It takes a while for the gas to get excited enough that it shines at full brightness.

It would be nice for some spread in the lighting up process though.

Where do you live, do your motorway street lights have instant max lumen LED lamps? Where i live the lamps (remember seeing it some year/s ago) turn on slowly and parts of the town doesn't even turn on at the same time, they are not orange but are bluish/reddish white at start and then they get bright white in 30 sec. Orange lamps is usually in back yard to make people sleep easier or football stadium.

I live in the UK. Typically each light has it's own sensor to determine when it needs to be on. Check out your street lamps for a little bulge on the top, that's where the photo sensor is housed.

They're not always that lumpy. The ones outside my house are considerably smaller from memory. It's dark and they're on so looking to check will only burn my eyes with horrible LED light.

Might well be different round your way.

In the picture the left lamp is motorway and the right one is for pedestrians (newer model has a flat roof). In ETS 2 i was in Sweden/Scandinavia map when the lamps flash-fast were turned on to max lumen but i don't remember having seen it happening irl here.

You are right, there is a sensor on the top of the street lights, i saw it today when i was on the hill looking down at a street light, but i still don't remember street lights flash-starting at max brightness.

Unless they are LED, they most likely will not. Discharge lamps are quite commonly used and due to their nature they have a period where they warm up before reaching full brightness.

Ye, i saw the other day both pavement lights and high way lights (with sensor) start up slowly, took about 30 seconds to reach full brightness.
