Random game crash whenever I used Dx11
Okay so for some reason my game now decided to love crashing randomly. Sure I'm using mods, but judging from my game.log.txt, I'm sure that it didn't caused by mods.

The crash didn't happen when I drive though, but it happen when some UI show up (like finishing delivery, choosing dest for ferries, etc).

The first crash happened when I finished my delivery, caused by <ERROR> [dx11] Failed to create texture (/material/ui/delivery_2.tobj) (0x887a0005), which is the "excellent" banner on delivery result screen.

The second one happened when I'm ferrying, caused by <ERROR> [dx11] Failed to create texture (/model/ui/dome_cube_map.tobj) (0x887a0005), which I guess the background in the ferry screen.

The next one, again, happened when I finished my delivery, but this it is caused by <ERROR> [dx11] Failed to create texture (/model/ui/snow_tile_n.tobj) (0x887a0005), which is the snow background texture on the menu.

I used Dx11 because it is smoother (more fps) to run, and some of my mods require to be run in Dx11.

Is there a way to prevent these crashes? If I used back to Dx9, will my Dx11 mods run properly?

Edit: or maybe do those Dx11 mods will run properly in OpenGL?

While you are probably right, post your full gamelog to pastebin.com (or similar site) and we'll have a look.

Given that there is no snow in the basegame, these files are from a mod. (2 of these files don't exist in the basegame.)
The dds files associated with these tobj files have some errors in them which DX11 can't cope with (but DX9 can).

You have two options, open the files, re-save them and put them back into the mod.
Or contact the mod author and let them know of the issue.

In regards to alternatives, DX9 is generally better than OpenGL.

When passing the ferry for example, the game needs more memory, because it loads 2 parts of the map. Maybe it's not just Dx11, what virtual memory do you have at the time of the crash? Put the full log file like Madkine said.

About the snow, it's definitely not from a mod. It's just a menu background and I get it from SCS Event 2017 Grand Gift Delivery. It should be in your Steam inventory too if you participated in that event.

Lots of errors in that log from what looks like outdated mods. I would suggest pruning back some mods and making sure you have mods that are updated for the current version.

Yea some of them were still for v1.33, but I don't think they were the culprit since the end of the game log always mention files from inside base.scs itself.

Required for the game is 4GB, this shows 8GB available.

Try removing/updating LogIt as it has errors:

You have a lot of outdated trailer mods that should be updated or removed.
You have an out-dated Kamaz mod:

If you haven't yet, Try verifying your game files.
Right click on game, select properties, goto local files tab and press verify game files.

Ok I'm trying. Anyway that Kamaz mod is from RusMap, don't know how to update that.

Speaking on my last question, did the mods that needs to be run on Dx11 would run perfectly fine in Dx9 if all of these solution fails?

FYI, DirectX 11 more strict on texture format than DX9. When you still using (older) mods that keep using older DX9 "style" format, you'll may get crash on DX11.

Does that apply to the opposite situation? Like if my mods using Dx11 "style" will it crash my game on Dx9?

Bumping my old thread, it appears that this problem still happening to me as of today EVEN in new vanilla game. Most of the crashes happened when the game tries to load a menu (e.g finishing delivery, visiting a ferry/chunnel service, visiting repair workshop).

It's not vanilla if there are mods still being detected especially outdated broken ones. Also any DX9 mods that haven't been updated will break the DX11 branch.

Your gpu doesen't support dx 11_1, you are using 1.35 so you can run in dx 9 or open gl. Your gpu had dx 12 but only featurelevel 11_0. See here https://technical.city/en/video/GeForce-940MX. For 1.36 you only can use opengl.
