Yellow number top left hand of screen

I've been away for a while as my G27 died and just got a G29 to replace it, but something new just appeared in the top left hand of my screen. It is a large yellow number and seems to vary but kind of settles down to 61. Does anybody know what this means??

I think the game has a FPS monitor, but it is disabled by default... So, the only thing I can think of is some sort of external application is showing that.

This is just me guessing. Since I've not seen this.

The game FPS monitor is tiny & purple; big & yellow is FRAPS.

OK I just checked FRAPS on GOOGLE to find out what that is. Now How did I get it and it only seems to be on ETS2, it does not show up on ATS or on SPIN TIRES. Now I have not checked any other games, but how do I get rid of it??

Could this be caused by OVERWOLF as while downloading the Driver for G29 from LOGITECH response was so slow starting the download, that I thought that maybe OVERWOLF was a required download.

I don't know if it is doing any harm but during startup of ETS2 the number drops down to 4 or 5 when you see a static picture/screenshot during the opening sequence then goes all the way back up to 60 or 61

That's normal behavior.

Um, I don't know all the programs that can pull up an FPS count, so what I would do is look through the task manager and see what processes are running. If you're not familiar with them all, you can post an image to it if you want, censor out anything you wish (like user name or whatever) and some of us can take a look.

FRAPS is everywhere or nowhere, not in-between ... so it's not FRAPS.

The number you are seeing is definitely a Frames per second number that you are picking up from somewhere.

click on steam (top left) go to settings-ingame and turn off the fps in the drop down menu under "ingame fps counter", should remove the numbers.

Thanks for all of the input. Problem solved. It was not the Steam (ingame fpa counter) as it was already turned off. The problem was caused by OVERWOLF so I got that turned off, now all I have to do is find out how to completely uninstall that Program/App.

Sorry for the delay in replying to your comments but I have a new problem. Something (a VIRUS ) infected my KEYBOARD and has changed a lot of my keystrokes, I am getting French characters, Arabic characters and even Chinese or Japanese characters, so that is the next puzzle that I am going to have to solve.

I'd be mighty impressed if a virus can infect a keyboard. (I can see it to some degree though...)

That one I haven't even heard of before. The only thing I can remotely think of on that is your regional settings for languages went awry or something. I'd look in there maybe for additional keyboards or something and remove any you don't need.

A keylogger in the keyboard chip is not so far fetch. A few years back, they manage to record the "buzzing" (sound of electronic components under load) of a working CPU and determine what it was actually doing.

A poor choice of wording, it is probably in the computer somewhere, but the Regional settings look OK! It all started really weird, ETS2 would not recognise or even see when I hit 3 for Top Down View or even using my G29 setting. Got out then went back in and the problem was still there, so out again and went to post for help, this is where I noticed all of the funny CHARACTERS being printed. Out again and went to EMAILS and the problem was there too, so on to GOOGLE, same problem. Went to NOTEPAD and it looked all OK so back to GOOGLE same problem but hit backspace and it was all of a sudden OK and Google recognised 3, back to ETS2 and 3 works, then back here to post and things work but I my keyboard is working like a French keyboard, however my settings are for English. While writing this post I hit the left arrow and all of a sudden LUKE FILEWALKER started a quick scan (that is AVIRA), The next is going to have to be the 8 STEPS, but that is a 6 hour ordeal to dig out any nasties that may have infected my computer. I suspect that a REGISTER has been changed andéor (I meant to type and/or but got the é instead of the question mark, see what I mean). Will start running the 8 STEPS tonight and let the 1st part run while I sleep.

the Numbers that appear on your scrren are most likely the overwolf FPS counter (enabled by default), they are actually quite annoying but can be disabled in the overwolf settings.

As for your keyboard, my logitech keyboard does some very funky things when the Insert key (above the arrow keys) is pressed once so maybe check its not that or any other special keys you have on your keyboard like media keys.
It's a long shot but sometimes it can be the most obscure things that fix it.

Problem solved itself?? well maybe with a little help from me. I ran THE 8 STEPS, which consists of AVIRA, CC CLEANER, MBAM and SAS. The whole process took about 7 hours but they all came up clean.

Now AVIRA threw me a curve as they have now insterted an new wrinkle which is AVIRA CONNECT and at first go it only gives you a quick 2 minute scan, but if you look closely hit the left side of the SCAN dialogue box which is OPEN SCANNER brings you into the old familiar AVIRA CONTROL PANEL, of course I did not spot this and by hitting the right hand dialogue box was only getting QUICK SCANS. I ended up UNINSTALLING AVIRA and then DOWNLOADED & INSTALLED it again, twice before spotting this little wrinkle; so I hope this information helps somebody else.

In CC CLEANER I also ran the REGISTER CLEANER, which may be what cleaned up the Keyboard problem, as I had already tried some old HOTKEY tricks to switch from English to French Keyboards such as LEFT ALT + SHIFT , but that did not have any effect as changeing settings via the CONTROL PANEL also had no effect.

Anyway problem solved, but I still wonder why the problem just seemed to cure itself slowly, one key at a time starting with the "3", then the "T & t" plus the "arrow keys", then the "` ~" key finally curing the "/ ?" key. Normally you would expect a one step cure, not something that would correct itself slowly over 24 hours, but then maybe it was one cure/key per reboot, as I did a lot of soft rebooting during this whole process. This one will remain a real mystery.

Thanks everybody for your input and support, it made me feel like I was not alone like in the old pre-internet days when you would go throught 1,000 page manuals trying to find a fix for a problem.
