Handbrake surgestions??
Im using a logitech wheel with the crapy shifter as handbrake atm but soon will be past on to my brother and i will be getting the logitech g920 wheel. I have the thrustmaster th8a shifter which im using as a h-shifter so im in need of a handbrake. I'm just curious what people are using for a handbrake on their sim rig.

I use a button on my G27 shifter for the hand brake. Afterall, the trucks ingame are just a push/pull knob.

Edit: In regards to other sim games, I plan to rip apart an old keyboard and use programmable switches and such to create a handbrake lever and other things like turn signals and lights/wipers. It's a few months away from the funds needed for it, but it'll be nice when I'm done.

I have an identical setup with a G920 and th8a but as I use VR I needed something that I could use by touch so I setup my steam controller as what I call a "wheel caddy" and offloaded some features onto that.LB became my handbrake as I need to grab the controller to press it best simulating a handbrake (it's on my left as I drive a RHD truck, would use RB on a LHD) and use it to navigate menu's too so now I only need a mini keyboard rarely for the F keys.

Why is the shifter crappy? When used as its meant to be its brilliant!!! Its not meant to be a handbrake. Just cos it wont do what its not meant to doesnt mean its crappy.
I use it for, (IMO), proper cars, those without flappy paddles (60's GP, Rallying and Touring), and its brilliant.

Was looking how to make a handbrake but all I could find were on/off handbrakes.
Surely to replicate a r/l h/brake you would need to use a potentiometer to replicate the amount of force applied as to how brake/accelerator pedals work?
If so, anyone got a plan or know where I can get one?
I have used button as h/brake but its not the same really.
This post had just reactivated my interest inh the subject

Honestly truck handbrakes irl though can be eased on they are a bit too sensitive and modulation is tricky, they are not like the handbrake in a car.An on/off system is your best bet imo.
