A is best and goes down the scale to E as worst.

thats what i though im just confused how the stock tires are rated c but the moer expencive tires are d and e??

Why do the same tires have worse ratings on the rear than on the front? Is this a new feature/bug with 1.26?

The tyres are doing different jobs at the back and front. The back wheels aren't going to be dealing with a lot of lateral force, as opposed to the front tyres, for example.

But the impact to the game isn´t really noticeable. Only tyre size does some remarkable changes.

I noticed this issue when upgrading from Trailmaster to Elemental type tires/tyres.
If I mount on a front axle, the rain rating goes from a E to a C. Very nice.
If I mount on a rear axle, the rain rating goes from an E to a D. Not as nice. Why the differnce in tire rating?

Because they're different tyres doing different jobs. It is a reflection on the reality of manufactured tyres. Why else?

So a tire with a rain rating stamped on it of C when mounted on the front, magically has that same lettering change to a D when mounted on the rear? I don't understand.

Use this, it gives more variation/flexibility than the default tyres:

If I remember rightly, these continental tyres I use both are graded: B, B, 75

Because in real life, there are steer tires, and there are drive tires, steer tires ONLY go on the steering axle, and drive tires ONLY go on the drive axles. Also, steer tires and drive tires are treaded differently from each other, thus the rating will be different.

Thanks - I didn't realize the game was actually modelling that difference. I thought it was the same tire.

I've just loaded the Michelin DLC, and am glad to see that there are enough versions available that I can choose a better tire for the front, and a different one for the rear that has the same ratings.

Hmm...

how exactly does tyre change the sound? I'm confused.

Different tread patterns sound different - like a 4x4 with big offroad tires vs a family sedan with summer tires.

I think its more like how loud the tire noise is on the road. Some will be louder than others.
