Is the Logitech G29 worth it? [First driving wheel]
Good morning / afternoon.

I am a little bit in doubt with the Logitech G29 / G920. I will first clarify some key points so you can know my scenario:

1. This would be my first driving wheel ever, so it's NOT a Logitech G27 vs G29 question / comparison.

2. I already read and researched a lot, and am aware of Thrustmaster / Fanatec counterparts. However, as there is not an official retailer here, purchasing either of them would mean importing and their price would be MUCH higher than a Logitech (I've even seen them as much as twice the price of a locally-obtained G29 / G920), so at the time being they would be definitely out of my budget and not a do-able option.

3. Yes, in the past I did have the chance to obtain a G27 for a lower price AND with the shifter included, (today I'd of course prefer it over current options) but I had other priorities and could not get one. Today, they're excessively overpriced and not available at physical stores, and I honestly am not considering getting a used unit.

Now back on track: today for the first time ever I was able to test a G29 at a local store, including the shifter add-on. While the wheel feels very nice (that leather finish is very good in my opinion), ironically I was more impressed by the pedals than the wheel itself:

The computer I tested on had a random racing game on and I only drove for like 5-10 minutes. As it was an exhibition unit and computer, they did not have ETS2 available, which is what I really want the wheel for, for now.

I quite didn't feel totally satisfied with the force feedback feeling, as sometimes it felt somewhat... rusty? (Please correct me if you have a better word.) Cannot judge on ETS2 as I didn't have the chance to test there, and I suppose the force feedback "style" there would be much different compared to an actual racing game.

So, my question for those of you who already drive on ETS2 with either a G27/G29/G920, is the racing wheel really worth the purchase? Keeping in mind that this would be my first driving wheel ever (right now I am using an Xbox360 gamepad), and I cannot afford right now Fanatec or Thrustmaster. Eventually I would possibly use it for other racing games - making such an investment for only one game doesn't make much sense - but right now my main focus is ETS2.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Got my G29 (with gear shift) for last Christmas, i also got the pro stand to put it on, and have to say like you it was my first wheel and i would not try anything else now, i am use to it. I did want a G27 just for the extra button, but i have mapped all the button to the way i want, happy days
So i would say that it is a good wheel i do not have trouble with the feedback, and once you get use to it i think that you will love it.
I have never tried any other wheel so i cannot give you a compression to the thrustmaster

I've old Momo FF and it's very worn out so I'm very close to buy new one and done my studies for long time and it's going to be G29. Force feedback is not my thing, it was fun for while but modern games overload FF so much that's not even close realistic. In ETS2 it rattles even when truck is still and engine idling so I turned it off on game settings but it still keep centering wheel.

So I really mean that don't take FF seriously because it comes with any good steering wheel anyway. Chaper wheels don't have clutch pedal or good pedals at all and when you realize that cheaper wheel you buy is stinky, turns only 180 decrees and it has no reselling value, you have to buy G29 anyway! If you somehow don't like G29 and want to sell, it have great reselling value!

Thank you for your replies, guys. metpei, you've raised a valid point: I'm considering getting the wheel not mainly because of the force feedback, which although adds for realism, is not really necessary to me, for the time being. It would of course add a lot in racing games, for example, but right now my only driving game and focus is ETS2.

As I had already read about the wheels, I was aware that their force feedback was not the best, which I confirmed when I tried them, yet the build quality and pedals did impress me positively.

As I read more about reviews and experiences, I get more convinced to purchase it. And as you mention, I plan to either get a good wheel or just stay with my gamepad as I know I would be bored rather quickly with a mid or low-end wheel.
