you have your barrier...that´s the edge of the road, everything else is on your own risk...
In some parts of Northern Germany (and probably elsewhere too) your truck is doomed if you touch the grass near the road with your wheels. It will sink into the ground, sometimes even fall over.
If its the first, well - see the other comments. Plenty of vids on youtube where not so clever truckers tried out what happens. Don't be that guy ;))
If its the latter, a more detailed description of you problem would help.
"invisible wall" probably means he went off the road for more than a few dozen meters and hit the "end of the world" :)
been there, done that :D
and just to make it complete, @OP
the game is strictly designed around the roads, loading zones and the like...as mentioned, things that a cargo trucker would normally use... everything else (with a very few exceptions like some backstreets in new french towns) is just background scenery and per design not meant to be driven in... after all, as you mention yourself, it´s not an offroad- or exploration game in that sense :)
and as Mohegan says, SCS don´t want to annoy us with more artificial barriers than necessary...people complain enough about the "virtual" road barriers as is :)
Yea guessed he meant the first one, but thats me again trying to be polite ^^
Anyways OP - if you like not so usual roads, try RusMap and especially ROS (Russian Open Spaces). Be aware though, if you don't know what you are doing you will get stuck on some of the roads there as well. Here two examples of what you can expect to see there:

It's not really the off-road I meant, but it's cool nonetheless.
For the RusMap I need ProMods with all the expansions?
