Timezones are exatcly as they imply. The time adjusts to the local time zone for that location.

Map alignment, well, go on the map screen and take a peak. Flat lays out the M map flat. One of the options make it like you're spinning a globe.

oh i see.. does time zones affects day/night cycle? because like driving scandinavia the nights are more brighter than other countries...

I don't know. I play MP mostly so the time is always one consistant time no matter where you are.

Probably not, because time zones are an east/west thing while nighttime darkness is a north/south thing.

nice explanation! makes sense. thank you...

it's because of this the nights in the north part is more brighter than south?

Britain have a different timezone compared to all other countries at the ETS 2 map.. It´s important (in theory) delivering sharp timed load.

The game takes place during the summer, more specifically at the summer solstice. At the equator, the day and the night are equal and both have 12 hours. The further north you travel, the longer the day times are, and the shorter the nights. And past the arctic circle, the sun does not set.

Nights at the poles are brighter in the summer and darker in the winter because the earth is tilted on its axis and during the summer, the tilt faces the poles toward the sun and away from the sun in the winter.

Also, day/night are very much an east/west thing. This is why the international date line in vertical, not horizontal.

In Stockholm it will not get especially dark either in the summer - sun might be down just a couple of hours.

I was talking about how dark the night can get in a certain area, not about how late it currently is in a certain area.
