Steering Sensitivity - Xbox 360 Controller?
Hi Everyone,
I'm a total 'Newb' to Euro Truck 2, so patience and understanding would be appreciated Lol.
Basically I'm using my Xbox 360 controller via my PC and everything is fine except I can't seem to get the steering sensitivity right I've moved the sliders left to right including the Steering Non-linearity slider, but I find that I have to really force the joystick or the slightest nudge and I'm drifting from lane to lane erraticly? Somewhat bizarrely on American Trucks it seems much better?
Any advice would be muchos appreciated
Ps: I do have 'Shaky Hands', but that doesn't' cause me any difficulties on other driving Sim's?

Did you adjust the dead zone?
Do you use physics or trailer mods?
Do you drive too fast?
If you're going at higher than 65 KPH you'll usually drift and weve a little bit, especially if you're going downhill or around a tight corner.
If you ake a corner too hard you WILL fly all over the road, or even tip. Be careful.
I use about the same settings as on ATS. The dead zone is set to a small amount, sensitivity a little to the right of center, and non linearity is about 3/4 of the way to the right. European trucks are a shorter wheelbase than American trucks, so they will be a little twitchier.
are you talking about cockpit- or external camera? the latter would explain why it´s much better in ATS, because the external view let´s you steer much more accurate than in ETS2...
In ETS2 it´s very very wonky...

if not, well... did you set the controller type and subtype (in controller settings) both to gamepad?

I use Xbox One controller, sensitivity at 100%, non-linearity at 0%. But it was the same when I used 360 controller.

I always drive in-cab, if that matters.
yep.
i found it impossible to use a controller or m&kb for any decent steering in either ats or ets2.
even with max sensetivity and zero linearity.
in the end i settled for a custom super slick wheel profile.
i guess you could have a look in controls sii and try editing the jsteer settings.

also, the vanilla rear car/truck rotation camera (the 3rd person vehicle cam) is an utter nightmare so i set max offset to 0.
the 3rd person cam is now locked behind the car/truck just like any other regular driving/racing game.
its so much sweeter. practically perfect.
i normally use cabin view, but a proper vehicle-locked-3rd-person-cam is a great advantage/addition.

but yeah.
like jackrabbit said, make sure controller type and subtype is set to gamepad.
then maybe have a look at the jsteer settings in controls.sii in your character profile folder.

you could also use a physics mod with edited steering sensetivity/turning angle etc.

360 controlers in this game can be a nightmare when it comes to sensetivity/angle vs speed of turning/smoothness.
but i gotta add this: any cheap 180° wheel will perform much better than a controller in this game... ((well, there are "cheap wheels" and cheap wheels of course :D ))
I tried a 360 controller before I got my wheel and found only frustration. I never could get the thing to feel right. I played multiplayer with the 360 controller for a while too and I eventually felt very bad for all the drivers ended up broadsiding or otherwise damaged, lol. Thank god for wheels.
well, tbh, i enjoyed the 360 controller for while, i can´t really remember how i set it up though. was better than M/KB at least... but my Carbon GT is just a million times more enjoyable, even though it cost me 30 bucks on Ebay... :)

i can only imagine the joy when i get a ffb wheel soon :)
Wow! I never expected that...Lol Thanks to one and all.

This is more or less how my settings look, My sensitivity is in the middle, and non linearity right over to the left.

I don't really know what your talking about, sorry I'm totally new to both Euro Trucks and American Trucks, but I think my driving speed is ok it's within the 'speed limits' except when I'm not paying attention Lol

I do a bit of both, I not sure which I prefer as yet chase camera to internal, but yes definitely better in ATS.

Of course I did mention my 'Shaky Hands', which have good days and bad, so that's obviously part of the issue.

Anyway guys, big thanks for all of your contributions, I guess I'll run into you sooner or later, hopefully not literally though Lol
Cheers
I'm using about the same sensitivity settings etc. as above and it works well for me, though I've switched some of the function assignments around. E.g. I have accelerator and brake on the right stick and look left/look right on LT and RT with no look up / look down set on the controller (as you don't usually need it if you've set your seat accordingly).

Cheers Chris, some great info!

Cheers, this is very useful
Hey Guy's, Bit of an update, I've tried a variation of all your sugesstions ( thanks again for those), but until I can afford a wheel and pedals set...maybe Santa will bring me one???
I set the sensitivity slider to about 1/4 from the left and the same for the non-lieanertivty slider and I've turned off force feedback, which I appreciate takes away the realism, but like I say it's until I get a wheel. Anyway just thought I would let you guy's know, cheers, 'Don't Drink and Drive!'...even if it's tea or coffee Lol
