Maximum cargo weight before the release of the Heavy Cargo DLC was 24 t.

The icon to indicate a "heavy cargo" load in the jobs list will be there for modded cargo you add to the game if it exceeds 24t and the Truck Analysis screen will also be triggered. Additionally, the 8x4 chassis were added to the base game and do not require you to own the DLC.

However, I don't think the achievements for Heavy Cargo DLC will register for mod content as they appear to be tied specifically to those cargoes from the DLC.

Actually some doubles in Scandinavia are sometimes over 24t and classed as heavy even without Heavy Cargo DLC. They have the heavy weight icon and bring up the Heavy Cargo dialog when chosen. I hauled one of those that was 31t with 625 hp 12-spd Mercedes 6x4 before I bought Heavy Cargo DLC. I have no mods at all.

Once I had the Heavy Cargo DLC I almost got stuck delivering to a quarry just trying to easy (forward) park Heavy Cargo with 6x4 730 hp Scania. I was spinning all 4 wheels even with differential lock. Had to back up and get a running start.

the game determines all empty trucks to be 16 tons, thus 24 tons of cargo makes 40t which is the highest allowed weight without special licenses (i.e. heavy transports)

in reality it would be a bit different, since also the number of axles on tractor and trailer are important for weight allowance, but that 16+24t formula is a simplified version assuming the optimal equipment of the train, it´s a game after all :)

Not entirely true, as trailer weight is also calculated. It weight usually something between 5-7t. So, truck is 8-10t usually...
however, game marks cargo as heavy all cargoes 25t+. They require heavy tractor in quick jobs, and the heavy cargo screen (to confirm you have correct tractor) appears
the game probably calculates the trailer weight into the cargo weight plus the aloowed maximum, not empty weight for the tractor... something like that :)

well however, it all comes down to 40t maximum with the right tractor and trailer :)

cargo masses are taken from: def/cargo/cargo_name/trailer.name.sii file (exatct mass is there, as shown in game)
trailer mass is from: def/vehicle/trailer/trailer_name/chassis.sii (trailer_mass: 6200.0)
could not find truck masses though...

Even what the cargo mas is,in game its not realistic. For instance, I drive a 6x4 rear - lift and i take a load like say 26T . The whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ truck skid's all over the place!!!! That is not correct!!! With this axle combo i could haul at least 30T and even its over that,it will never skid like hell. If you are overloaded let is shown by the truck's suspension that more down than normal or an indicator in your truck that tell's you that your truck is getting overloaded? But dump the skid thing.
what skids? my truck never skids... but then again i drive carefully...

Me to;drive on an average of 85 km/h every time. I dont know hw,but since the 1.28 update. have to watch out i drive not to loady, ever load off 25T i count +1. Well, the truck skids. Is there something in the gameplay menu that i have to look for or what?

Maybe the problem is the rear (tag) lift?
