AI trucks?

Yeah, they always seem to go faster than the limit.

The limiter probably doesn't apply to them then.

The AI trucks will speed just like players will speed. How do you know the AI aren't getting speeding tickets? ;)

The only country with HGV speed limits higher than the speed limiter is UK where they have highway speed limits up to 97kph.

Cause thats what happens in real live. Here in germany the speedlimit (for trucks) on highways is 80, yet trucks overtaking each other is a common thing - so go figure. The fastest one i have seen here once, at least the one i know of because i was driving right behind him as my exit was near, was nothing less but 94 km.

Not that i would mind too much. A would rather go with a trucker going by the 10% rule but pays attention to the traffic instead of one who sticks straight to it and does things he should not do while trucking.

If you might ask why, see here:

I saw this a while ago as it was linked in a german newspaper. I dunno how fast that guy was on impact. But even with speedlimit 80 (km/h), it wouldn't have saved them. So yea, at least to me, go faster - within reasonable limits - if you have to, but for the love of it, pay ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ attention to the traffic.

It's just like real life
Most countries keep trucks at 80, but they'll be speeding anyway (84,88 or 90)...
Just a little below the speed that get's you the big fines.

Sometimes it's amazing how some drivers keep going faster than 90, at least until the police stops them to take a look at their digital driver log which saves their speed for quite a while ;)

The AI's can take advantage of the 10% speeding rule just like a human player, so they do.

Max speed of AI trucks is set to 90 KMH by default. But most of them have very high torque power so they usually accelerate faster than you. But they are limited at 90 by the game's parameter.

If you are not happy with that, and you would like to see them go slower, use my traffic mod, it's called "Alive Traffic" . Max speed varies from 60 - 90 for trucks, and lowered torque.

I only just started playing this game recently, but I can be going top speed in my truck, and other (AI) drivers fly around me like I'm sitting still. Ok, that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but they do pass me at what seems like a pretty good clip, so I don't see how we can all be limited to the same speed. It's not a question of acceleration when I'm already at top speed and get overtaken by EVERYONE on the road.

here in the UK our *maximum speed* is either 70 or 75 (MPH) no idea in KMPH

but very often (almost every single vehicle) especially if on one of the long (50 miles +) roads *everyone* will be doing at least 90-100 MPH (20-30 MPH over the speed limit) and police will just casually drive past without pulling you or them over... (as a passenger... i don't drive IRL... i see this more than i would like)

I don't believe this is entirely true. The max speed with the limiter on for the player truck is 90 KPH, no question. You can only go faster if you don't use a retarder while going downhill, otherwise the game simply won't let you.

Now, for the AI, since I just got off from a small session in France where the limit is 90 KPH, the AI trucks are still passing me to some extent, usually no faster than about 93 KPH from my perspective. So, I do believe even the AI trucks are capable of going faster than the player, but not by a lot. Oh, and this was on a straight, no hill road or anything.

I guess that traffic mods are responsible for that speeding. As most of traffic mods update default cars/trucks speeds and speed tolerance. As I'm not using traffic mod, only Jazzycat AI traffic cars, trucks usually drive slower than a limit (by 1-3km.) which is really annoying... Other than that, I haven't noticed any truck driving much faster...

+100

I forgot to mention, i have *never* seen any *truck* go faster than the speed limit in this game (and to confirm Xyzan... they actually go a lot slower (if you not using the speed limiter)

Cars on the other hand DO go a *lot* faster than the natural speed limit in the game :)

I was talking about the AI trucks, not cars, not vans, not buses. Most of you may not know me, but i am a modder of a popular traffic mod, so i dare to say that i have looked into all the traffic related files of the game. The trucks (AI , not the player) are set to run no more than 90 in the vanilla. And my mod changed particular trucks and cars to run only 60 - 70 KMH and they run accordingly. So the max speed parameter is the ultimate rule that the AI follow.

Try my mod , so you will see some of them running 60 kmh.

my own full exampe comes from... setting the reginal to UK settings *MPH and etc*... when i personally am at 80-82 MPH i zoom past all the other trucks... the cars however still zoom past me as if doing at least twice that (egcageration i know, but that is the comparison)

no other mods apart from maps (Promods and/or TSM) i have no other mods installed
