Scania 6x4 Unstable?
I have had two high end Scania trucks, both had very bad steering. They sometimes behave like a normal truck, but sometimes (more common at higher speeds) they tip a bit, and keep turmnning where a normal truck wouldn't. If I am going fast enough, I have to swerve just to avoid falling over, and that leads me to have to swerve even more the other way, and it leads me to hit the side of the highway, possibly a few cars on it, and then fall over.

I think regular trucks could do stuff like this, but I have not seen it happen. (I have been driving a Volvo 750hp at about 140km/h. It has no such issue, just steers slowly at those speeds.)

Is it a good idea to upgrade to 8x4 chassis so I turn better?

I underlined the problem.

I like going fast. Is there a way I can get my Scania truck to not randomly push everyone off the highway and fall over after hitting alternating sides of the highway.

yep, the problem is that trucks are designed to drive approximately 90km/h, so any more speed, they are stopping to be stable.
You can check the trailer stability in option, and make it more stable, you can buy better tires (with bigger grip - I guess rain rating will be better), and do smaller wheel adjustment, while driving fast.

Thanks, that worked.

Found front wheel rims that make the wheels wider, helped a lot.

What are you using for control (keyboard, gamepad, wheel)?

I use a G29 wheel in Linux, which works fine other than no force feedback. I used a Scania to haul Scanias and other loads and did not have any problem. Although, the 450 hp right hand drive purchased for touring (bobtailing) the UK reminded me why I usually get at least 500 hp engines when I hauled my 1st France promo load from UK to France.

But I have noticed that some top heavy loads can be a bit twitchy with any 4x2 if you steer too abruptly. So I got a 6x2 taglift for the Scania I purchased most recently with 730 hp and that is stable at speed. I guess I have not posted a picture of that one yet other than on WOT.

The only 6x4 I have is a 625 hp Mercedes that I just purchased and have not driven yet.

If you have Michelin DLC, you can use tires with various profile. Standard size is 315/70 R22.5 iirc. You can have wider tires (385 mm) or higher profile with some of those. I thjnk rims ajust automatically in-game (i.e. there is no customization in size for rims).

The only thing I am not entirely sure of is traction. While there are icons and grades for fuel economy, wet surfaces and noise, there are some tires that have similar grade wet conditions, worse economy and are louder. They are supposed to have better traction and all-road capability, but I am not sure if this is simulated in the game (because there is too little off-road in vanilla game).

Yes. They make the tires firther or closer togethor, depending on what rim you get. I have never heard of michelin DLC.

I use a 25 year old massive keyboard. Ibm Model M, it's great. It's the thing all modern mechanical keyboards try to emulate.

Not twitchy, my scania truck was going mad. Mostly fixed now, and try using 6 x 4s.
