ETS2 And Freezing
Hello all! I have been having an issue with ETS2 and random freezes, the most recent one being around 5 minutes ago. Usually, it's just freezing, with no video updates (I can still hear game audio) but today, it froze, i still heard the audio, but it popped up with an error "Cannot detect video device". I was at first thinking it was a problem with gpu power delievery, connection to the PCIe slot, or something wrong with my motherboard, but I am not having the same issue with any other game in my library. I'm really lost as to why this is happening, so any help is appreciated.
System Specs:
i5 3470
8gb ram
500gb seagate hybrid drive
EVGA GTX 660

EDIT: I actually have been having a similar issue with CSGO, but the game never crashes. It freezes, exits, and then immedietly goes back into the game, like nothing ever happened.

Could it be an overheating or video driver problem?

Nope, GPU stays under 80C, and I'm running the latest drivers.
NO THERE IS NEVER VIDEO DRIVER PROBLEM . Thats usually ETS problem
all problems with ETS are ETS problems not driver problem

Repeated Crashing
This is a repeat of a thread I created earlier, but it's become even more of an issue. I cannot make it 5 MINUTES in this game without it crashing. I am running the latest video drivers (385.41) for my EVGA GTX 660. i5 3470, 8gb ddr3 1333, HP Compaq Pro 6300. SCS, this is ridiculous. Fix this ASAP, or if anyone has any reccomendations on how I can fix this on my own, it'll be more than welcome. I have tried running it in only DIrectX, only OpenGL, etc but it always crashes (cannot find video adapter, or something along those lines) or doesnt give an error at all. It is not a problem with power delievery, or connection to mobo or anything like that because other games (fallout 3, 4, Forza 6 Apex) all work fine without a hitch.

Try running the game on absolute minnimum graphics, and see if that does anything.

Yes, it seemed to work (10~ min of testing) but i can't be sure, and either way im not running around with 25% render scale.

since thousands of ppl play the game without this issue, its bound to be on your side.
you srue have the c++ libs correctly installed?
and its a compaq...thsoe ususlay have a ton of bloatwre not needed at all
see if thats the case and clean out all the stuff you donty really use/need.

Nope, fresh install of win10. Bought it with its harddrive completley formatted. I'm not an idiot... So just reinstall the game?

I wanna tell you something, I had this issue for over a YEAR!! Until recently I decided to deal with this problem, at first I thought it was the monitor, so I went to Philips and had them replaced a motherboard, then still, after 5 mins of gaming the game crash but I can hear the music in the background playing but my screen got disconnected and requires rebooting. Went to Gigabyte, replaced my 980Ti with GTX1080, came back all confident, but still has this problem. The only difference is I don't have to reboot anymore, instead using ctrl+atl+delete to exit the game. When I was at Gigabyte, they ran tests on all the hardware, and believed it was my Win10, I bought a new M2 SSD and did a clean install of Win10 Pro, still...you can imagine...

Now I'm looking at all the people who has the same problem, no clear answer yet...I bought this game ETS2 back in 2015, I was running on Win7, it was smooth with every setting in ULTRA, but oneday it started to crash, at first it was after an hour of playing, then 30mins, then 15mins....I want to believe the problem has something to do with Win10, because I literally checked and almost replaced everything else.

Thousands of people play this game without a problem, this I believe. But how many people are running in 4K resolution? Or using Win10? We get a lot of answers to this problem, most people always say to check the driver, or decrease your resolution because your hardware is outdated, if it was a rookie mistake I guess wouldn't be looking for a solution for the past year.

I'll check the C++, too, wouldn't hurt:)

Reinstalled the game, crashed within 45 seconds of starting a quick job. Decreased the resolution from 1080p to 1680x1050, crashed within 45 seconds, deleted the config.cfg file, started back up, crashed within 45 seconds. Launched in DX only mode, crashed within 45 seconds. I'm sure you can see the pattern.

EDIT: Uninstalled the C++ 2005 and 2008 redistributables in programs and features in control panel, it stayed alive for another 10 seconds. I'm unconfortable nuking all the other ones so that it's forced to reinstall C++ because i'm relativley sure the nvidia drivers use the C++ redistributables.

turn down graphics your video card is overloaded, you can reproduce (if you have a low-mid computer) set to ultra in simple setting drive thorugh VLF (because its graphic comsumption is high) and you most likely crash the game.

Classic symptoms of video card TDR failure. It's not the game mate, it's your old hardware. PC parts do not last forever. Time to upgrade or troubleshoot the failing parts in your rig and replace as needed. I would look at the video card and your power supply to start. Good luck.

It works perfectly fine in every single other game (FO4, medium. CSGO, medium, no frame limiter) and ETS2 (high settings, 1080p) is only utilizing 50~ of the gpu, and stays locked at 60fps. It isn't a hardware issue.
