SCS Software = EA Games
I just want to express my insatisfaction about the things happening now with ETS2. Keep in mind that I play ETS2 since version 1.4.1, and I have neither ATS nor Scandinavia DLC.

On SCS's blog:
Friday, May 5, 2017 - Doubles [blog.scssoft.com]
- "It's going to be a FREE update."

Wednesday, June 7, 2017 - Heavy Cargo Pack DLC for ATS is out! [blog.scssoft.com]
- "All three (the parts of the trailers) have their own pivot point [...]"
- "Our Heavy Cargo Pack comes with a mix of 2-part and 3-part configuration trailers [...]"

Thursday, July 20, 2017 - American Truck Simulator 1.28 Open Beta [blog.scssoft.com]
- "Euro Truck Simulator 2 may still need a few more days, as we are fighting with a small but particularly hard to catch bug there."
- "[...] there are different regulations in Nevada [...]"

Wednesday, July 26, 2017 - Euro Truck Simulator 2 Open Beta ver 1.28 [blog.scssoft.com]
- "[..] jobs with double trailers only available in the countries of Scandinavia, where we know them to be legal."

Well, let's analyze all this:
- On May 5 SCS announced the doubles. Wow, the news everyone was waiting for! Expectations was just starting to grow...

- Heavy Cargo DLC for ATS was released with all-working 2-pivots and 3-pivots trailers, which made modders able to design doubles and triples for the game. Besides that, Summer Sale was on, which made the price to drive those trailers cheaper; what a convinience.

- On July 26 1.28 Beta in on, with all of its "amazing doubles (and more)". But wait there, it was release only for ATS, because suddenly they found "difficulties" on ETS2. Difficulties on an almost 5-years-old game already sold enough, while the newer game, that has not sold enough, is going well.

- Now, 1.28 Beta for ETS2 in on, and said it was going to be a free update, but nothing about the need to buy Scandinavia DLC to drive doubles. They say that it's because they still don't know where in Europe the doubles are allowed by law; well, this research was made very fast for ATS, but I think 5 years of developing isn't enough for Euro. Also very convenient.

I hope you understand what I'm saying here: It seems (a lot) that SCS is using everything they have to make you buy ATS (and now Scandinavia DLC), not only advertisements or in-game content for ATS or Scandinavia, but it looks that they are using the doubles to 'spoil' and impair ETS2 to make you buy the others products mentioned.
What other game company we know that makes everything they can (fair and unfair things) to get our money? If you are in doubt, just think about the huge amount of DLCs they have for their games...

idk it seems to me your more upset about spending money ahah. i can't relate to this at all as ive purchased scandinavia when it came out . i don't see the comparison to ea games at all .

also understand scs with releasing the ats beta before ets makes sense i mean people play ets 2 more than ats so i see where yeah maybe they lied butunderstand 5 year old game or 2 year old game one can have bugs one may not its not exactly predictable . im american and i don't exactly like ats ahah i play ets 2 all the time ive uninstalled ats like 2 days don't plan on playing it for atleast a year lol the physics are just horrible for ats it feels like ets 1.4.1

They are only in Scandinavia because they know they are legal there/here. It is still a free update. They will most likely have added them to more contries, before or when 1.28 goes "official".

I don't see your point, here. Doubles are in 1.28 as every one of those posts stated it would be. They only spawn where SCS has confirmed that they are legal to operate them, just like ATS. If you uninstall Nevada from ATS, you end up in the same situation. Doubles are still drivable in ATS, just they won't spawn normally. All it takes is a basic mod to get them to spawn outside of Nevada.

My point is to just wait until a mod comes out that spawns them elsewhere. SCS will let them spawn where they find out it is legal to operate them as time goes on. Want to speed up the process, push for change in the laws where doubles like those in Scandinavia are not allowed.

Let's not compare SCS to Plebatronic Farts just yet, ok? EA is the worst. SCS is one of the best devs out there and they're still indie. You only need to look at the fact that they're still even CONSIDERING updating a game this "old".

Comparing EA to SCS is like comparing cars and trucks
They have basic things in common (company in the same industry and simple stuff), but that's about it.
SCS's DLC policy is fair, reasonably priced and good, while EA is just money or bust...

As far as i know the heavy cargo dlc was not reduced in price during the summer sale....neither for ats or ets2.....

SCS just needs the money to grow and expand. They need more DLC sales to keep a steady stream of money to pay their developers and generally grow and expand I guess. They weren't lying when they said the doubles for ETS2 were free. You just need to get the Scandinavia DLC, and if you have it, you'll get the new double trailers for free in the next update. I suppose that isn't totally free, but the game isn't free.
I don't know, but you shouldn't label SCS as just another EA because you're frustrated with pricing. Be thankful that you have a great simulator that you don't need to spend tons of money to get more fun out of it like games such as Train Simulator.
I get it, it is still a little expensive. But when you think about it, SCS is asking for way less money from you than other devs do, and the DLCs add quite a bit to the game.

I don't know, this is just my opinion.

You want the game to expand? It costs MONEY. Developers won't accept fairy dust as payment for their hard work.

I can already tell this thread is stupid simply based on the title. Comparing SCS to EA is one of the dumbest things I've ever read/heard.

Another thing that should be noted is that SCS clearly stated that the Scandinavian countries are the only ones that they know double trailers are legal in. These laws vary from country to country, and it could just be a coincidence that the countries that double trailers are legal in are also the ones included in the DLC. Seriously, read their blog posts. I think you're just misunderstanding SCS's actions. You're jumping to stupid conclusions about SCS simply because you are far too easily outraged by decisions that these companies make. It's okay to call a company out on their BS, but actually make sure that it's BS first before calling them out for it.

Sorry, but i don't get it OP. Ever since i bought the game earlier this year - there have been how many sales for ETS2? 3 or maybe even 4? When i bought it, i got the whole essential package (basegame, scandinavia, going east and some random stuff) for about the same price you would have to pay now for scandinavia alone. And at that point i didn't even know how much i would like the game. You could call that dumb, at least a gamble. But thats not the point.

My point is, if someone really likes the game and what it is about, why would i leave out content that basically adds to that very core of the game? Okay, now i get that 17 bucks (or whatever it is in your currency) is money to some, no problem. But i dunno, i would at least expect those who really like the game to pick that stuff up during sale.

I don't know you, but every time i see threads like that, be it here or in any other game, i really start to think the "Geiz ist geil" advertisment that was used here in Germany some years back really made it into the heart of people.

well continueing development costs money, the devs want to eat you know.. so buy all the dlcs aleady! :P :D

i dont know why but they dont want to edit the original map (nederlands, germany, austria, belgium).. where they are perfectly allowed by law to be driven.. but they could add them to france where they also are allowd.

dont know whats going on there with scs and what there thinking is.. i think its time for an other interview with pavel and squirrel!!

ETS 2 got the Heavy Haul DLC FIRST, ATS got it second. Now ATS gets the beta first and ETS 2 gets the beta second. Now all of a sudden there's ETS 2 players who are pissed off just because ATS got something first? Grow up. Both games have different regulations, both games are developed separately. Just because the games are developed by SCS doesn't mean everything will get released at the same time. Both games will also varry in content due to the regulations.

Playing since 1.4 and you don't have Scandinavia? What's your excuse, because it ain't expensive at all. You can get it with a huge discount on steam sale (same goes for almost all DLCs).
