Repaired Engine Damage, Still Getting Malfunctions!
So, I accidentally hit a guardrail because I needed to get over into the right exit and the cars weren't letting me over. This resulted in some significant damage to my truck, including engine malfunctions. I made it to the nearest city, and paid for repairs to my engine and transmission (couldn't afford the other repairs, literally just bought my truck). I figured that would be enough to get me to the destination and finish my job so I could pay for the rest of the repairs. Lo and behold! Despite 0% damage to engine or transmission, I'm still having lots of engine malfunctions! What gives? Do I have to repair ALL damage to stop these malfunctions? Or am I now cursed with an eternally failing engine?

Well, after completing my job, I was able to repair the chassis damage, which was at 37%.

Still can't afford repairs to cabin (29%) or wheels (7%). Still getting engine malfunctions, slightly less often it seems, however. From what it looks like, any amount of damage will risk a malfunction, even if not directly to the engine. But the fewer parts that are damaged, and the less damage to them, the less likely a malfunction seems to be.

You could as well load an autosave from before the crash (if you're not doing an WOT job).
Of course you should repair the whole truck to make it work correctly, not just a part of it.

I tend to play ironman these days, even when games don't force me to. Keeps it interesting. I'm repairing it as best I can. Literally can't afford the rest of the repairs right now. Just confused as to why my engine still malfunctions when the only damage left is to the cabin and wheels.

I want to make it without loans if possible. I earned my truck, and I want to keep my financial independence, at least in my fantasy world. :)

The chance of engine malfunction is based on the overall state of the truck and not the engine specifically. Enough damage to any component other than the wheels will generate problems with the truck with specific issues dictated by the actual parts. With your chassis at 27% damage it could be damaged wiring causing the engine to malfunction. :)

Thanks for the explanation! Is there a wiki page or something where I can read up on potential problems due to damage?

That makes sense, that damage to non engine parts might effect the engine.

As for going iron man, it really brings in the realism into the game, and mistake have an effect and makes it more fun to overcome the setbacks. Good show.

Might depend on the truck, some are better than others
