You live in a different world, don't you!
However i dont expect SCS to make it when they have staff from Promods hired and they tend not to cross their passes to mutch anymore to make it more compatible so if Promods do Spain then SCS wont.
I would pay 10€ for the new Scania S&R series if it was from SCS so it works in MP as the one for 25€ wont do it and never will.
Good modders should be payed for their work even if it means that el-cheapo users never get them and use them as they expect everything to be free even if the work is done on payed time.
What other soon 5 year old game still expands and is supported like ETS2?
This "all to be free" has destroyed FS Community where good modders moved on/gone private mods only and crappy "convertions" that at best wont work without massive log-errors is left and some hardcore modders are still working but only with half their heart in to it.
SCS has always added new trucks for free - I'm not sure what the reason for that is but I respect them for making that decision. Modders are doing a hobby, if they want to get paid for their work they should get an actual job in the respective field. Don't assume that everyone who takes advantage of the fact mods are free expect everything to be free because they don't.
Seeing as this is basically, more or less, identical to another thread I'll just copy and paste what I commented in that:
SCS did hired 50K and MandelSoft among others but there is noting wrong with paying others for their time hobby or not.
There is nothing wrong for ask for like 5-10€ for a mod you spend mutch time on and is a good qualitywork amd maintained like RJL R&T Scania:s. It is then up to user to accept it/pay for it or move on to ther less good but free mods.
Majority of user that expect things to be free(not taking advantages of it but keep quiet if they are not free) is el-cheapos even if they dont considder themself to be that just that "everything HAS to be free" and would never ever pay for it even if they could.
Just look at the whine over Michelin DLC that is very a cheap DLC but still babies crying over not getting it for free. They call them self "fans" of SCS and as sutch they knew the timewindow was limited to get it for free nomatter if it was in the middle of the night or not for there timezone they would be there.
I understand what you're saying in regards to paying SCS for trucks but, like I said, I don't know the exact reason why they add them for free but I can speculate it might be something to do with the agreements the respective manufacturer sets IE. that SCS cannot make any money off their (the manufacturer's) product .
If it's a hobby they do it for free, if they want to get paid for it - get an actual job akin to working for SCS or something similar. Personally, I don't care about how time consuming it is, if that's the case for them well.. they committed to doing something that has no legal requirement for payment like a job when they didn't have to hence why, in regards to this topic, I'll always say if they want to get paid for their work; get an actual job instead of doing a hobby because that's what modding in regards to sites such as ets2.lt, modhub etc. are.
The majority of people do not expect things to be free, especially around here, of course there's cheapskates no matter where you go - however they're actually the minority in this community. The only people, in my opinion, that have any right to complain about the pricing for any DLC for ETS2 (or anything on Steam in general) are the Russians and anyone else that uses a similar currency which has insane conversion rates. The Michelin DLC, for example, costs what.. £2? That's ₽145 in Rubles. The French DLC? That's £14 which is ₽1,016. Anything that goes higher than £20 or higher than that in any world leading currencies? It's insane. Standard AAA game price tag of £60? Better cough up ₽4,356 if you're a Russian. It literally doesn't matter how low the price is they will always be paying too much in comparison £1? That's ₽72. Convert from any world leading currency and they'll still be shafted due to the conversion.
Those who complain about the pricing for ETS2 DLC and happen to use world leading currencies such as GBP, EUR, USD, AUD etc.? those are the cheapskates you're referring to well.. Aussie's are borderline on being almost too expensive but compared to the Ruble the AUD is actually cheap, believe it or not. There's always a minority of people ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about something or other when SCS does something whether it be DLC, an event or some other trivial matter.
I agree with you as far as "yes, it damn well would be nice" goes! Shame it's not going to happen!
The "free download option" seems a little dubious to me. ZippyShare is not one that looks trustworthy to me, and kept on giving me "pop-up" adverts for various OBVIOUS SCAMS, such as "click to become a millionaire", "you've just won $3500 worth of computer devices", "Scratch Here to Win", "hey! you need to install Flashplayer Update NOW, click THIS", "hey! You need to install Firefox Security NOW, click THIS" and two pop-ups to pseudo-porno anime crap type games. This is BEFORE you've even wrestled with the notorious "Ad Fly" which you are also autodirected onto. (Actually Ad Fly's ads seemed more sanguine - mostly advertising themselves bizarrely!)
Of course, you can be blackma..... er I mean opt to PAY to avoid all this.
I'm sorry but I think the designers of ProMods should know better than to cavort with this SCUM.
I'd quite happily donate more than the £1 being requested for an "ad-free download" if they would
1) opt for a less aggressive spam/scam/malware riddled filesharer, especially for those trying the "free download option"
2) ask for voluntary donations in a more open honest manner!
The ProMods team are doing an marvelous job, I couldn't praise them enough normally, but the sheer stinking taint of Ad Fly / Zippyshare has rubbed off onto them I'm afraid!
<breathes in deep in anticipation of expected sarcastic and insulting comments>
Adguard Adblocker + Norton = no problems. Everything gets blocked and deflected, plus if it's the free option why care about the ads not working due to using adblocker? It's supposed to be free.
Ad Fly and Zippyshare have a simple, and undefeatable defence against all AdBlockers of any kind..... the *entire sites* simply refuse to work if any are enabled, NVM the adverts themselves..... ie you are FORCED to disable your defences in order to even start!
Expected really, as they were offensive ads..... scam and phishing attempts, that's why! I'd expect the ProMods guys not to be associating with this filesharers like this!
How the hell you even extract / install anything from them? The tutorial on the ProMods website tells you to "combine" them..... but not HOW to "combine" them..... thanks guys! So helpful!
Posted for help on their boards, but you can't even put up a post without it being vetted by a moderator first - seems like nothing but barriers over there! Guess I'm going to be waiting for a while before I get answers from them!
Anyway I now have these seven useless files:-
promods-v212.7z.001
promods-v212.7z.002
promods-v212.7z.003
promods-v212.7z.004
promods-v212.7z.005
promods-v212.7z.006
promods-v212.7z.007 <---- this 7th file seems to be some sort of "controller" for the other files?
But I cannot get "7-zip" to do anything with any of them!
Any help? Anyone?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZwPzyJsqcg Try this...
Although the documentation is easy to follow.
It's not undefeatable. I defeat the ads on ZippyShare and deflect the pop-ups from AdFly every time I need to download a new version of Promods.
Did you download the file checker app to be sure each piece is whole and uncorrupted? Occasionally a piece gets corrupted during download.
7zip should handle that multi-volume archive set without issue. You can combine them using a binary copy in a DOS command prompt, as well. I do that and then extract with WinRar.
