Look at the streets. There are always signs that announce the speedcamera. Sometimes hidden but they are there. Hit the brake same moment you see the sign. Some signs are posted very short to cameras.
Some road works are having cameras too. To find the sign is difficulty. Means: you spot a road work, go down to 50 kmh, then 30 kmh.
Country roads have no speedcameras beside of roadworks as far as i know.
Maximising speed needs always a good brake and a short gear set. If you try country roads for racing look out. Most roads having sharp corners with downward slope and oncoming traffic. To drive here with 120 kmh + is really dangerous and can give you a frontal crash or an overbalanced truck. Some crossing can flip or damage you truck heavily if you have too much speed.
The U.K. is notorious for all their speed traps.
Here are a couple of examples:
A speed record and you bet I didn't see the camera in time.

Here you get the yellow ones. Watch out for the third camera pole, it's the one who will catch you since the first two does nothing.

In The UK it's either 50 mph (80 km/h) or 30 mph (48 km/h). The latter could be a roadworks.
In France, if the sign says 110 km/h after the camera sign board you can go at the same speed without a ticket.
I think it's 90 km/h at the speed traps in Germany at most.
But Switzerland shows no mercy and the Netherlands got some really unfair spots.
Driving on the motorway just outside of Rotterdam and Amsterdam there is a sneaky speed trap sitting just behind the camera sign. I've been caught there many times.
Though the one that really gets on my nerves is the Great Belt bridge tollbooth in Denmark. To add insult to injury my home country is Denmark. I detest that bridge in game but in real life I always look forward to it. Here you go anyways.
Annoying!

Ohh, and the tollbooths in Scandinavia are really annoying too. There are invisible speed traps, so better watch out for those. You can safely blast through the one at the Öresund bridge at 100 km/h.
If you get anymore questions, ask ahead and I will help you, even though it means I have to get some tickets, lol.
Happy speeding and
On the continent they're actually much easier to spot as they are over the road - basically if you see a motorway sign type structure with no signs on it, it's a set of speed cameras. The game isn't quite as evil as real life where they put signs in front of them so you can't see them coming lol 👍
Officially it is 10%, however the game calculates speed to several decimal places, where as we only see the solid number. So you could be doing 55 in a 50 but the game registers 55.31mph = ticket. So it's always wise to drop 1 mph to be safe.
This is true for ATS as well.
is there even any road without a speed limit?
Trucks always have a speed limit.
I take it you are not a driver and you are giving out wrong information.. In the UK every road has a speed limit for cars and trucks are always speed limited, as they should be....they are large dangerous things in the wrong hands. This below was taken from the Gov.co.uk website and you'll also find this info in the highway code.
"Signs show speed limits in miles per hour (mph) or use the national speed limit (NSL) symbol. The speed limit is 70 mph on motorways, 70 mph on dual carriageways, 60 mph on single carriageways and 30 mph in areas with street lighting (restricted roads)."
Even if you are out in country roads and there are no visible signs the speed limit is 60mph for cars. Also to Original Poster there are police cars in ETS2 same as ATS.
Yes I am a driver. Have been for many years. I would be giving out wrong information if I was giving advice to somebody driving in real life but since this is only a game I decided to overgeneralise and give no real detail. In the game you can switch betweeen car speed limit and truck speed limit.
