Ultimately it's only usually the lower powered "entry teir" trucks that are really annoying, most anything mid level in terms of config seems to be fine. You're feeling like the merc- get the merc, no point getting anything but your heart's desire lol; you'll be driving it a little while!
Also some people were reporting that the last update caused a cruise control issue on the Volvo using the 750Hp engine and alison R transmission, I haven't checked on that in a week or so though.
But if you look at real life companies, most of them use middle range engines (better torque tro hp ratios than the bigger hp engines in general) and mostly Merc, DAF, and MAN trucks. Admittedly IRL there are dedicated engines for heavy hauls that are not in game currently (I'm hoping some get added with the oversized trailers)
Merc 1858 engine = 4.84 t/hp
Merc 1863 engine = 4.80 t/hp
Scania 730hp = 4.79 t/hp
Volvo 750hp = 4.733 t/hp
So although the Scania/Volvo is "faster" it has worse torque per HP. But then you don't pick a engine for speed when heavy hauling. It's not about being the fastest afterall.
well how ever, to each their own, i like my Benz :)
Interesting to hear others perspective - I use DAF 105's as my fleet truck basically because I think outside and in they look the business. I drove one of them for a couple thousand K's and honestly no problem with the standard engines as far as I was concerned - plenty of power.
For me, I don't own one in my personal garages just because I don't really enjoy driving them. There's nothing to dislike in handling or power or anything like that... they're just a bit... 'meh'. But that's personal taste for you!
At the moment I´m driving the Actros because I like the Interieur more than inside the Volvo.
In the future I want to switch to smaller engines around 500hp like nearly every truck on the Autobahn because of a little more challenge and realism.
I really hope that the new Iveco Stralis HiWay will find the way into the game one day. Iveco really learned a lot over the last years. Nice truck.
Hasn't the HiWay been in the game for a long time already? This is an old truck one of my drivers is tootling around in:

Have a look at "Stralis XP" with Google. Nice truck.
