Which Transmission Is Best?
Hi guys, i have a question that I was hoping you guys could help me answer. I usually play ets 2 in sequential automatic mode on a keyboard. I've recently noticed that i can get 3 transmissions for my trucks, the basic one, one with what seems to be a lower gear ratio and a 6 speed one with a 2.42x torque figure but much lower ratio. What situation does each of these transmissions fit into and what would you say is the best one for me? I usually do moderately long hauls (500-1000km) of heavy objects 20+ tons and possibly 50+ with the upcoming heavy load update. PS I don't really care about fuel consumption, only performance really :).

18
anything above 50 tons i recommend 12, 18 doesn't animate to well if running automatic transmissions.

if double clutching 18-32 would suffice pending on the trucks horse power

I pull similar loads and have picked my own 'best' for it.
I use a 12+2 (has a L1 and L2) with 3.80 differential. Trailers are a modded set of 100T trailers. With a 500hp Scania.
AlexeyP's physics mod - he tweaks things like stability, suspension capacity, brakes, and traction.
Tried a 12 speed and was too hard to get started.
I don't use anything than 750hp for hauling 100 ton though still stick to a 12 speed due to using keyborad or controller

your issue raven is you were underpowered for pulliing.. anything over 50 ton that is what I learnt on the 1 st 7 days in both ats and ets2, with simple automatic in use the system tends to choke on an 18 speed, though as the weight grew 600+hp was a basic requirement because from dead stop anything choked to get moving..

I don't remember what I learned in my first 7 days - that was a while ago. I did use automatic for a while, both the basic one and sequential shift with my G27 paddles.
I do know that once I get rolling, I can pull the heavy loads with the 12 speed manual shift, I just need the extra range to get rolling. I find that more than 500hp makes it all too easy, as I like having to manually work my way up through all the gears to gradually get up to 80 kph, and to downshift quickly when I hit a ramp at an interchange.

Yeah I think that overall the best gearbox is 12 speed gearbox (for example Scania's GRSO905R) with powerful engine. It's good for both heavy and normal cargo.
