Heavy cargo, I failed to deliver...
Hey guys,

I would like to ask you to let your wisdom shine on the following problem I ran into:

I'm driving RJL's Scania R at the moment. It's statistics are:

730Hp and 3500Nm at 1000-1400rpm;
Differential ratio 3.42, retarder: yes;
14 gears (13.28-080);
Chassis with 4 axes: 2 and 3 powered, 1 and 4 steering.

According to the new in-game truck analysis its perfecly suited for hauling heavy cargo. It scores very high for uneven terrain and perfect for heavy load and hills traversal. In spite of all this I recently failed to deliver a 30 ton digger to Norsk in Oslo. I just couldn't climb the dirtroad leading to the parking spot. I tried for nearly half an hour, locking the differential after the game prompted me to do so, I tried clockwise and counter-clockwise but I just got stuck on the dirt and couldn't make it uphill. And when I tried later without any cargo (!) I could just barely make it to the top. I felt quite disappointed and slightly embarrassed...

Has anyone of you had a similar experience? Can anyone tell me if I'm doing something wrong here or if I'm overlooking something? Is there a flaw in the basic build of my truck?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me...

Did you keep your engine around 1000-1200 rpm and your gearbox in 2-4th gear ?

NB: I have one mod like that, 10x4 and all the whistles, only one powered axle [...] could not climb hills and got stuck on train tracks once :steamfacepalm:

I haven't taken many heavy jobs but I've had a fair share of experience with unofficial mods and insanely heavy loads, 56t, 70t, 90t etc.

90t ICBM with thousands and thousands of miles to trek through Russia:

56t load of stone or gravel from the bottom of the pit in the default quarry:

Use as much momentum as ye can that that ye feel comfortable and in control with, then give it stacks and floor it up the hill going down gear by gear until ye can't go any lower or wherever ye got stuck. If by dirt road ye're on about getting into a farm or something take as wide a turn as ye need to get it to fit so long as the road's clear, feck the AI cause they aren't using the road if it's empty.

do you play with keyboard or controller/wheel?

with a keyboard it can be quite hard, because you can't really hold a specific RPM on the engine

Forgot to mention: I've been using automatic transmission so I couldn't hold on to any specific RPM at all. So yeah, it might be a solution to just turn manual transmission on. I'll try that for sure. It will require some remapping my controller, but I guess that's doable.
I only recently aquired the Scandinavia DLC, I'm loving it but I sure hope not all Norsk locations are as challenging as the one near Oslo...
Thank you all so far!

That's the solution for quarries.
