That the human eye can't see past 60 fps, in terms of how you're applying it to this situation, is a total myth.
Reality is a higher FPS than anything technology can currently offer. The world around you is moving much faster and you interpret it just fine.
Even if you can't see past 90 fps, it's noticeable on monitors from how smooth animation transitions to one another. Its noticeable.
People who cant even feel the difference in 60 and 120fps. Oh vey...
I mean most of us are just laughing at the notion, but 120fps isn't required for a game to be playable especially not a coop one.
Another filthy armchair guy.
yes i can easily differ between 30 to 60 or 60 to 100+ , 100 to 144. ofc we cant really prove this to some people whom never owned high refresh rate monitor before. just like some people here. so screw it, mate, its like paddling against waterfall.
plus our eyes are natural radiation detectors, they work with lightspeed. not by frame per second.
There was a time I really couldn't either, but after playing on 144hz monitor long enough I can see the differences, but I still find gaming acceptable at 60fps.
30 is rough for some games and not others depends on the game of course, anything under 30 is stutter hell 😂
The human eyes see thing fluent between around 25 FPS (depend on the people) so basically you need at least 30fps to see things smoothly.
And, once again it depend on human, some don't see much difference between 60 and above. For some that cap is even higher than that. It all depend on the people.
However, as long as you are above 25 FPS you'll be fine cause it will seem like it move "naturally" at least fluently.
60FPS is just a standard. A good one though.
Asking for more is kinda like asking to have a 5090 when you already have a 4080, like who care ? You're just number craze. And accustom to too high quality, because you consumme too much content above 60 FPS.
But it's also true that higher FPS can allow your brain to process information faster and react more, which is useful in intense fight...
But not only that has a limit, in addition, in MH or in Souls for example, you know the choregraphie of monster, that's what makes you good. Reflex are near irrelevant (can help in first time, but 60 FPS is more than enough).
It's even highly probable that it's not that much better for arena games like the FPS genre. That difference in frame above 60 is a lot more irrelevant (once again, it's not exactly 60, more like between 50 and 55 if i remember) than before that framerate. Let's just say you have a fair fight with 60 FPS vs 120 FPS, while it may be "unfair" to be 40 FPS against 60 FPS as it could slower your reaction time (but not by enough to really change much, in the end, compare to your real reflexes and skill cause human reaction time is slow compare to a frame rate).
For a MH game, as long as you are above 30 FPS, the game is playable smoothly and without impairing your skill. 60 FPS is better, but above that, except for the eyes pleasure (which given how bad some texture are, it's not the game you should ask that for) there is really no point in asking.
Imo, more FPS don't matter, it's a stupid fight, and people asking for it are like rich people asking for everything, it's annoying. However asking for better performance so that the game is more accessible and that it is taking less lifespan out of your computer, is absolutly valid.
And better performance means better rig will have more FPS.
Too high FPS though and you may miss frame and in such a detail that appear on it. (To test it, you put a frame with a letter, and see if you can see the letter, at least its existence).
You don't notice a thing if gaming on a 60hz monitor. You can have 1000 fps and it would still be 60fps you see.
On a 144+hz monitor though, completely different ball game. Im 165hz, and ill never go back to 60. And gaming at 60fps on a 165hz is disgusting.
Fun fact, not just human ice but all ice can't see even at all! Except vanilla, that ice can see 🤣
